Fabián is the kid brother of Marcos René "Chino" Maidana. In the amateurs he was KTFO by Alan Castaño (brother of Brian). Chino promotes all three of them. He is trained by Roberto García. Currently standing at 11-0 with eight kayos, he is headlining a card on CN23 in Argentina tomorrow night and taking a minor step up against experienced journeyman Elías Leandro Vallejos, who boasts a pair of upset victories over former prospect Gumer Carrasco.
We shall see if he can live up to the name. Not many can follow family tradition with the same success. Maybe he does better than his brother Marcos but he is fighting at 154 and there is some good competition waiting for him there.
Sometimes the family name is a curse and other times not so much. I hope Maidana can bring some heat like his big bro. I've always liked Maidana with his hit and just hit back style of fast action boxing
This was Fabián wailing on Jorge Maysonet Jr. of Puerto Rico last year in his previous biggest step up. He forced him to quit after 6. This content is protected
There's a match on March 25th that might get you salivating, Jorge Paez Jr. vs, Daniel Sandoval. Nice right?
Good news: CN23 live streams all their content 24/7 on YouTube. This content is protected Bad news: the broadcast starts at 2200 local time in Buenos Aires. That's 9pm EST - meaning it conflicts directly with the Mansour vs. Kauffman PBC on BounceTV card, also beginning at 9.
Elías Vallejos' last outing, unsuccessfully challenging aggressive southpaw César Miguel Barrionuevo for the FAB (Argentinian national) welterweight title last November: This content is protected
This should be a good fight. Elías is no slouch. He moves well laterally, picks off shots and counters off the pick, and can switch his stance on the fly. He doesn't have much pop so don't expect him to check Fabián's chin for us but he can give him some difficulties and drag him into deep water.
I dig it. Despite their respective outcomes versus Omar Chávez, the favorite will probably be Galeno, considering his age, height (6") and reach (7½″) advantages.
