I still don't see what's so brilliant about Pantera. Care to explain to me? For me it's just a lame watered down version of Thrash Metal that wasn't all that original. I'll throw them a bone and will say Cowboys isn't a bad album but even that isn't what most chalk it up to be. Spare me the mimed arguments about they supposedly saved metal. I want something actually intellectual and well thought out. Feel free to PM as we've already derailed this thread enough as it is.

    Round 3

Turchi starting to connect on the whipping left hand and right hook. Conquest blinking off shots as he gets banged on the nose but still jabbing his way in, holding when he needs to when stunned or just to stem Turchi's momentum. Good body work by Conquest. Turchi pawing with the right jab, tickling Conquest under the chin with it.

    10-9 Turchi, close

    29-28 Conquest

Former rugby player turned boxer Tony Conquest was destined for big things by Boxnation. He was even a commentator for a brief period before it all went tits up and he retired. His passion and love for the sport motivated him to make a comeback. Twud be good to see him claim another win here :drink9:

Pantera were a pariah, they shocked the world when Far Beyond Driven debuted at number 1, MTV hated them, didn't cover them hardly ever outside of Headbanger's Ball, there was nothing mainstream about Pantera at the time, at all. It wasn't "trendy" or "cool" at all when they first showed up. They succeeded against all odds, they weren't pushed by the lamestream anything. And I'm sure @IntentionalButt can attest to that.

    Conquest is in trouble.

Something went wonky at the end of that round.

I've always dug Phil. Down are a lot better than Pantera overall. Phil ruined his brain with drugs though and thus most of his projects are ******ed.

Record sales don't mean anything to me. Originally isn't a popularity contest. Pantera came along at the right time and had the right kind of sound and image to be successful but at the end of the day it's just a dumbed down version of Thrash. I'll always prefer the original Exhorders take on it as well. After Cowboys Pantera became mind numbingly stupid and we're blatantly trying to cash in on their tough guy image/sound.
