I take the Ferocious 4 over both of them for pure action (Limon; Navarette; Chacon; Boza)

2000s had more geniuinely excellent fights regarding competitive back and forth action.

80s had superior "events" and bigger shocks\more suprisingly memorable outcomes, but i think a number of the fights are a bit overplayed when just viewed on their own merits.

    Morales vs Barrera 1
    Pac vs Marquez 2
Marquez vs barrera\Morales vs Barrera 3

    Duran vs Leonard 1
Leonard vs Hearns 1 and 2

yeah, the events thing is a great point, those events were monumental

in terms of the thread question, these two eras both had my two favourite fights ever most likely, Duran-Leonard 1 and Barrera-Morales 1. The former being my favourite fight in terms of the level of skill and pure ability on display, and the latter being my favourite fight in terms of jaw dropping action and attrition. The GOAT fights for me.

My Top5 would probably be Duran Leonard I, Leaonard Hearns I, Hagler Hearns and MAB Morales I and II.

I thought Lenoard Hearns was a great tense tactical fight with multiple adjustments and gutchecks on show.

    Not for everyone though.

Aye, IMO it showed off the strength and weaknesses of both fighters, their ability to adjust and Leonard´s switching from "boxer to puncher" to save the fight was amazing and showed his great vesatility and abillity to adapt. This fight proved for the first time that both were the real deal. It´s such a pity Leonad didn´t have more fights.

Was it Leonard switching from boxer to puncher though or jsut simply being outoxed until he finally landed the punches that counted. That's how I saw it anyway, I always thought he got too much crecit for his tactical acumen in that fight. If he was able to change to puncher and win at any time he wouldn't have left it til the 14th round imo. Hearns was just winning the fight until he got stopped is how I see it. Full credit to Leonard for winning.
