Sadam Ali has said that every round is close, including the ones that haven't been even remotely close.

Guy is the most waffling, diplomatic-to-a-fault commentator I have ever heard. I think if left to his own devices (and not prompted by Coach or cued by mention of the online fan scorecards) his card would be 70-70 after seven, all 10-10 rounds.

"Both guys are doing good things, are trying hard, are ...throwing punches, and doing...um, things..."

    Round 8

Monaghan is circling outside, as he did in the opening frame, but without as much quickness or agility. Monaghan is caught by a roundhouse lunging right hand from Barrera. On the outside Barrera is poking at the guard with jabs and lining up big heavy clubbing rights. Whenever he scoots forward to work at close range, even when he does manage to reach up and tag Barrera on the noggin with a climbing right, Monaghan is caught by an uppercut and dazed, but he stands firm and never cedes too much ground to Barrera, just maybe a half-step backward to reset. Monaghan is TOUGH.

    10-9 Barrera

    78-74 Barrera

    Round 9

Monaghan is keeping his feet closer together now, as though his ankles were bound with a bungee cord. Monaghan starts to skiffle in close behind a high planking jab. Monaghan trades short left hooks with Barrera, now managing to back him up. Barrera somewhat off-put momentarily by this surge in aggression from Monaghan. Barrera is letting Monaghan have this brief moment in the sun, biding his time - and then about two minutes in starts to regain control with BIG uppercuts. Heavy looping right around the guard from Barrera. GIGANTIC uppercut, prying in behind the gloves and landing square on Monaghan's chin but still he stands in the pocket and keeps firing.

10-9 Barrera, competitive (and Monaghan probably won more of it) but landed some absolute corkers to edge it his way.

    88-83 Barrera

    Round 10

Monaghan is getting speared with rights on the body from outside. Barrera seems content to box out the last three minutes with a casual pace, until Monaghan drifts in close and then Barrera starts to go berserk with savage body combos. Monaghan just poking with the 1-2, dipping & weaving in front of Barrera, juking and leaning to let the Barrera jab sail over his back or shoulder - but the jab isn't really meant to land for Barrera. Just window-dressing to set up his big uppercuts and sandbag-hurling body whacks. Monaghan now landing some right hands on the bridge of the nose but heavy left hooks crashing into his eye socket in return as Barrera goes for broke and loads up. Barrera is unafraid of Monaghan's power, ignoring his counters and just telegraphing everything, landing with his bigger punches even if that means that Monaghan cracks him with a couple in the meantime. BIG right hands from Barrera to end the round, knocking Monaghan's head around.

    10-9 Barrera

    98-92 Barrera
