Bob Arum is a vile snake, but really no different than any promoter. The main difference is that he's unlikable and a persistent presence due to his years in the industry. But I'm hearing people say that Arum will keep Lomachenko away from Mikey, which is utterly stupid. Arum has frequently matched ALL of his cash cows in fights that the boxing public said he would never in a million years make. After Pacquiao-Marquez I, they said that Arum would never allow Pacquiao to fight Marquez again. Then, at the peak of Pacquiao's fame and popularity, Pacquiao fought a clearly juiced Marquez not once, but two more times. Arum's cash cow was put in against his worst stylistic nightmare THREE more times. They also said that Arum would never make Pacquiao-Cotto or Pacquiao-Bradley (young, prime, undefeated — and if you believe the BS, slick black fighters). Then you had Donaire, the marketable action fighter who was being primed to take over as the cash cow after or alongside Pacquiao. People said that he would never make the Rigondeaux fight. At the peak of Donaire's popularity (when he was firmly installed on almost everyone's P4P list), Arum matched him w/ Rigondeaux. How about Chavez Jr.? Mexico's great hope w/ the brand name and prestige built right into his last name. They said that he would never match him w/ Sergio Martinez. The fight was made when Chavez Jr. was at the peak of his marketability. Now we have Lomachenko — who so far has not proven to be as popular as Pacquiao, Donaire, or Chavez Jr. outside of boxing fans. Why would Arum protect him against Mikey? And if Arum was protecting Lomachenko, then why did he "let" Lomachenko lose to Salido? I thought Arum fixed fights? Oh, and Arum made the Rigondeaux fight.
