Not quite, Tito got to his feet, corner threw in the towel.

Tito made the count, he was on his feet when his corner threw in the towel. It was a TKO not a KO. A minor point, all things considered, but it again shows what heart the man had.

I could live with Hatton being called P4P #1 with a decisive win.

There are two main reasons I'd hesitate. One is simply because we all saw him lose and lose badly to Floyd, but one of the central criteria in any P4P debate is level of competition. How can we argue that Hatton shouldn't be considered P4P #1 because he fought and lost to the reigning P4P #1 at the time? That's a weak argument.

The second one is simply that very few of us believe Pacquiao is a "true" P4P #1 until he fights and beats Mayweather. The fights with Marquez were razor close, and neither Diaz nor Oscar were on anyone's P4P radar when he fought them. The perception that Manny is "keeping the throne warm" isn't totally unjustified.

Its not the equivlant of that at all, far from it, for a start manny was 16 when he fourt at 107 therefore still had 6-9 years of natural growth left and the height and reach advantages are a world apart from LWW to LH compared to the divisions mannys climbed through.

And a BIG factor in him rating that high is that he gave the P4P #1 2 fights that many thought he won. So if almost winning is enough to boost you high in the standings, then a KO should do even more, especially if it's against a better version.

Hitting someone, after dominating them, and the guy wearily gets to his feet.....it's a stoppage.

For me, a KO is either a genuine stoppage, how often do we see a genuine ten-count completed nowadays anyway????

Doesn't really matter this "for me it was a KO" stuff, Tito answered the count and was on his feet, his corner throw in the towel, it was TKO end of story.

Well, I would say a stoppage is just as good as genuine K.O.

    That's my reasoning.

For that particular fight, Hopkins' domination was as good as a one-punch K.O anyway, IMO anyways.

However,Manny fought at 126,what,2 years ago and last year at 130.He's a natural juniorlightweight.Hatton is 10 stone, and Manny is 30,fully grown for a few years now. So,to make another valid comparison,if Hatton were to move up like Manny did as a fully grown man,it would be 10-14 pounds, which would leave Hatton at 150-154 pounds.Anyone like to see Hatton v Paul Williams out there?I would, but Ricky, his fans and Mayweather Sr. wouldn't.Actually Williams can still make 147,but it doesn't matter in this case because Hatton will never fight him.
