Floyd definately let a bit of "machoism" get to him, in this fight. He coulda won every second of every round before the stoppage doing it another way. Nonetheless, he still got up 8 rounds to 1 before the "check" hook.

What a bunch of Floyd nuthuggers. You make is out like it wasn't any work for Mayweather at all. Do you all live through Mayweather somehow? If so, get a ****ing life.

The fight was pretty simple. Hatton could not abuse Mayweather on the inside because Mayweathers ref would not let him. That left Hatton no choice except try to box the master boxer who happens to be taller, faster and has a way longer reach. Hatton had almost no chance once Cortez (The guy on Mayweathers payroll) decided to break them up everytime Hatton got close enough to hit Mayweather. After several rounds of eating hard shots from the outside, Hatton was finished. End of story.

I know you guys who worship Mayweather don't like such a simple story but that is what happened. Plain and simple.

If Mickey Van (The guy on Hatton's payroll) was the ref, Hatton would have ripped Mayweathers little head off.

Floyd pretty much fights the same way EVERY fight. That is what gets me about people saying that he is a runner. Floyd doesnt usually move around all that much. He stands in front, makes guys miss and counters.

Hatton really didnt do that well in that fight, I thought that floyd controlled the fight easy, which is the reason that I would be pissed if there is a rematch. No need for it.....Which in the end I think that is what the thread starter is getting at. A rematch would look just like the first fight only shorter.

Floyd just did what Floyd does. It's all about winning. He did not look for the KO necessarily, but it came to him. He won, like he always does. Very simple.

You are an idiot. Fighting on the inside, is when fighters are so close they have to put each others heads on their shoulders and chests because they have no where else to go. Their hands are still free, and by using upper body movement they create room to punch and score with hooks and uppercuts. See: Any James Toney fight

Cortez did not keep Hatton from fighting on the inside. FLOYD did. When Hatton tried to come in using head movement, Floyd clocked him with a hook. When Hatton tried to come in with his jab Floyd clocked him with a straight right hand. When Hatton DID get close enough to fight on the inside, Floyd initiated clinches - FORCING THE REFEREES HAND.

CLINCHES are supposed to be broken up. In Hatton's previous fights, SOME referees have allowed him to fight IN A CLINCH but this is ILLEGAL in boxing.

Floyd's game plan was perfect for dealing with Hatton. Hatton's was ****. Thats why Hatton lost the fight, he believed the hype, that all Floyd does is 'run', and that he's afraid to fight rough. Someone should have watched some tape before someone acted like a complete idiot in front of thousands of fans who flew all the way from the United Kingdom just to see someone fight.

Mayweather was in complete control the entire fight. Hatton would smother, Mayweather would shake him off and try to take it outside again, land a few crips shots as Hatton lunged in, and have to shake him off again.

There really isn't much more to say, Mayweather outboxed him 100%, never at any point in the fight did it look like Hatton was capable of doing anything that might win him the fight.

Floyd usually attacks the body and works on the inside. That's not a new aspect of his game, and certainly not him copying Hatton to show him who's better on the inside.

    True.

He knows right from the start that he can handle and even outmuscle the stocky but decidedly smaller Hatton, who at 147, was irrelevant and was not as effective as when he was at 140.

That is why Floyd took that fight btw.:yep

Easy money, easy fight, and some credits from boxing fans who mistaken it as a great match-up.

I don't believe he planned to fight the way he did. I think coming into the fight, he thought it was going to be easier than what it really was. Into the fight, he was forced to be more physical than the usual, otherwise he would have been pushed around more. He adapted and succeeded. Ricky made him earn his money that night and it made for an exciting fight.

PBF had alot to prove in this fight to the critics. He wanted to prove that he wasn't scared of Hatton like many assumed he was so he stood right infront of him at times beating him at his own game and outworking him on the inside. He also wanted to prove he was as strong or stronger than Hatton. I think he got a sample Hatton's strenght in the weigh-in when the two got in each other's face and from that point on he knew Hatton wasn't stronger. Lastly he wanted to prove he was the superior boxer and he did that by landing hooks lead rights and countering Hatton throughout the fight not to mention baiting Hatton to get reckless and come in wide open. While Hatton really never landed a significant blow throught the fight. This performance by PBF was a masterpiece and he beat Hatton in every facet of the game that night. We may never know what gameplan he used that night but whatever it was it was absolutely brilliant.
