    No doubt.

Yeah I hear you Boo, All this over thinking. Paul has never been hard to find. All that movement and I 've seen him move in to punches. Kelly will land, then we will find out whether paul is a WW or a MW. You already know what I think he is.

ill be pulling for pav as hard as youll be pulling for pwilly...though i think paul is great for boxing both in and out of the ring.

but i really don't see team williams underestimating pav behind closed doors. mind you im not privy to what happens behind closed doors in camp williams but i just don't see them looking at the bhop fight at lhw (170 whatever) and taking that as a reason to discount pav's wave of laid out fighters at mw. thats too irresponsible.

but who knows, maybe they do think they can stop pav. i really think that would spell trouble for pwilly. hell even if he fights smart and doesnt stand there and trade he's gonna get hit flush at some point in the fight but i think they would like minimize the damage he's gonna take by not standing there and trading. as a result, if hes not standing there and trading, i don't see pav being stopped b/c he won't be getting hit enough.

    If it ain't broke?

    Hmmmm...

I think an argument can be made that it is indeed broken.

Fact is, Pavlik didn't win a SINGLE round against Hopkins. Yeah, I know Bernard is an ATG - but he's still ****ing 45 years old and his punch count has been abysmal lately.

Yet Pavlik couldn't manage to win a single round?

****, even Tarver put a few rounds in the bag against a five year younger Hopkins.

Hopkins has exposed Pavlik as being a truly one dimensional fighter. PW should outbox him EASY...

Ya know, logic says you're right. However, the actual history says you may be wrong. After Pavlik/Hopkins, PWilly said, "I'd have done the same thing Bernard Hopkins did, but I'd have knocked him out." On top of that we have Peterson's statements from the other day.

I won't be surprised if Williams actually believes the PW hype.

Really good analysys, WWM. I believe this is a really good matchup that will take both guys where they've never been before. I'm picking Williams because I think he'll take Pavlik out of his game with his high punch volume. Kelly won't be able to get set to really nail Paul, as much as he'd like. But Williams will get hit hard during the fight, and it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I think they are just talking WWM. They're bluffing to play mind games. I honestly don't think they are taking Pavlik lightly. I think they obviously respect the fact that Kelly has had some good wins in 2 x JT and Miranda, etc. I think he learned from his first loss to Quinana that bad things can happen if you aren't 100%. He ain't fighting Carlos Quintana, but the best current middleweight.

It just amazes me that so many ESB posters can watch a fight, and come away with no clue what just happened.

jsimps told us that Kelly would 'box more' and even worked "think Yoga" into the pre Rubio fight discussions. Kelly did EXACTLY what he set out to do in spite of the fact Rubio got his ass gear stuck in reverse. Kelly was in such control that he was playing with Rubio making him miss using head and upper body movement and grinning at him. You keep saying you watched the fight. Try SEEING it now.

I just got to the end of the thread. I really want these guys to tell me what was so wrong with the way Kelly dominated Rubio. :-(

Very, very nice OP Walk. Disagree with a few things, but it's a good summary.

I don't doubt that Pavlik was trying to be more patient in that fight; but he did look a little sluggish compared to, for example, the Lockett fight. He wasn't putting together combinations as easily and wasn't punching with his usual vim. He probably was just holding back. But there is a possibility that the Hopkins fight took something out of him.

I don't remember what round it was, but there was an enlightening conversation in the corner at one point:

    Jack, "stick to the plan."
Kelly, "What if I get a chance to land something big?"
    Jack, "STICK TO THE PLAN!"
Kelly looks at the floor dejected.
