A big part of the reason Old Man River made his fight plan work so well was that he could hit Pavlik HARD with pin point accuracy, and if that didn't work, he was the bigger, stronger man, so he could win in a clinch. Paul does not have those advantages.

    And therein the problem lies.

    Pavlik is easy to outbox.

    Yes, really.

JT was having little trouble outboxing Pavlik, especially in the first fight.

Hell, Pavlik even gave JT an early Christmas gift when he WALKED into a punch and got knocked down...

I thought is was very close myself. I guess it depends if you scored Pavlik's volume, or JT's cleaner more effective punching.

If Paul wins, I think it will be very different than how Bernard won. I mean Bernard was so on with his punches, and he could see everything coming that night. He always trains hard, but he really worked his ass off to fight like that, mentally and physically. The similarity to me is all the different angles. Like you, I think Paul can win a decision, but he's gotta be damn careful!

I said it after the Rubio fight and I still believe Pavlik was basically just working on some different things and could have KO'd Rubio anytime he wanted. Some people thought he looked "bad", but I thought I was seeing some subtle, yet important changes he was working on. I dunno, that's what I thought I was seeing at least. I heard what he said in the corner as well which reinforced what I thought I was seeing.

Yes, KP was definitely working on some things. Lead left hook, doubling and tripling the hook up and down. More versatile stuff with the jab. And, back to the kind of body work he was doing a few years ago.

The problem was that Rubio did not fight anything like he usually does. He got that **** scared out of him in the first 3 rounds, and after that he pretty much refused to engage.

Yep, that's what I thought. I bet quite a few people who said he looked bad never even saw the fight.

Either didn't see it, or watched it on some shitty internet stream where you can't see any detail.

I will give you 'cleaner' but I will not give you 'more effective'. JT still suffers from amateuritis. He scores points, not damage. If he learned to sit down on his punches, he would be pure hell in the ring. Speed kills ONLY if you use it correctly.

I can easily see people giving Froch the later rounds on 'effective'.

Good stuff! I think alot of what you say is true...I think you give Pavlik the credit he deserve..Kelly is a middleweight champion and he dangerous ESPECIALLY FOR PAUL WHO HAS BEEN FIGHTING AROUND 47-54 FOR HIS BIGGER FIGHTS...I think Paul fits in perfect at the 160 frame and IF he beats Kelly it proves alot...SOME FANS THINK KELLY IS 1 DIMENSIONAL BUT I dont think he is...He can fight a decent boxing match and use his jab AND he can come forward...He is lanky and throws a lot of power punches..

I think Paul gonna win this fight though..I think his punch output will be massive and if PW head movement is their than Kelly gonna have a tough time landing the big punch i think hes gonna chase..PW UD 115-113
