Facts or Myths related to boxing

Someone once told me, when I was younger, that the wife of one of Roberto Duran opponents got in the ring and started hitting him, and so Duran knocked her out aswell.

Anyone know if this is true?

 

I tell you what is a myth, that Roach predicted that Manny would do what he did to Hatton in the round he did it, cause right before the fight he changed his mind, he told a reporter that Hatton was a tough guy, that he actually felt it would go the distance if I recall.

 

Duran in an interview said he simply pushed her down too hard when he was trying to make his way through the crowd out of the ring.

 

That is in fact true. His opponents name escapes me, something along the lines of Gonzalez or Fernandez.

That reminds me of a similar story about Ray Leonard's brother, whom Duran also decked in the ring post-fight.

Leonard told a great story at a dinner circuit night I was at.

During the lead up to his first fight with Duran, Leonard and his wife were staying at a hotel directly opposite to the hotel where Duran and his wife were staying.

The two pairs happened to pass each other on the street one day and Duran turned to Leonard and his wife and gave them the finger. At the same time Duran's wife also turned round and stuck her mid digit up at them too!

Leonard said he was so shocked at being given the bird by Durans wife, he just stood there speechless.

I'm not saying he actually did this, I doubt he did, but it seems to me if you're going to talk about running around the world you may want to exclude oceans..or any other bodies of water.
