    Tournament

Mike Tyson 2005 vs Joe Frazier 1981

Larry Holmes 2000 vs Muhammad Ali 1981

Discuss these matchups one at a time.....as you like....... and the final and 3rd place.

    Tyson beats Frazier
    Holmes beats All

    Tyson beats Holmes

Tyson is the best shot HW of the four. But Holyfield from 2008 beats all of them.

    I don't know... it's a sad tournament...

In Holmes vs. Weaver II in 2000, Holmes still looked like a boxer, whereas Weaver looked like a civilian. But Holmes was 50, going on 51 in 2000. And Ali did fairly well against rated contender Berbick at nearly 40 years old. 39 year old Tyson should have never lost to a guy like Kevin McBride, who as I recall, was never within sniffing distance of a top-ten ranking. Nearly 38 year old Frazier managed a draw against top-15 Jumbo Cummings.

The form and speed Tyson has shown in recent workouts looks impressive, but that's not against an opponent in the ring. This Tyson looks like he'd mop the floor with all those guys, but we're talking about a 2005 unmotivated Tyson.

I can't make a call on this. Ali was far better against Berbick in 1981 than he was against Holmes in 1980. Holmes of 2000 is nowhere near the Holmes of 1980. So that Ali could pull a surprise over that Holmes. And if Tyson could be stopped by McBride, but Frazier could pull off a draw against a better-than-McBride Jumbo Cummings, we might see that Frazier beat that Tyson.

We could ultimately see Ali-Frazier IV.

Of course, out of the four Holmes was competitive at an older age than the other three.

Yes mike tyson basically quit vs mcbride..a sense of exhaustion and panic defeated him...of course those 2 maladies derived from the root cause....he had no more desire to fight beyond 2 rounds.

Fraziers will never waned...if he didnt know his body could no longer serve his purposes he wouldve fought tyson himself in 1986...

So the question is can tyson 2005 bomb out frazier the way foreman did? If he cant can he last 10 vs joe where he couldnt with mcbride who outweighed joe by 55lbs and had 7 inches of height.

I think frazier 81 stops tyson in 9.

Holmes looked awful against butterbean and weaver...bean actually floored him right at the end in the only punch he landed all night.

So its ali 1981 vs holmes 2000....berbick was a young rough tough upcoming contender and i felt ali fought him to a draw....i agree with u ali looked much better in 1981 than he had since 1978......so i think Ali quite easily decisions holmes over 10.

I hope nobody took that as an insult to the original poster. It's sad in the sense of guys fighting on too long.

He absolutely did not floor him . the left hook was a clean miss , a slip was ruled a knockdown. Holmes won 10 out of 10 rounds ..

Ya, I agree. Btw, no insult to the poster either. It was an interesting question.
