Roberto Duran getting fat between fights. It cost him dearly many times. He could've fought lightweight and then junior welter his entire career. But then we'd have missed the spectacular, inconceivable performance he put on against Iran Barkley. #goodthread

Golovkin for not dumping the Germans sooner and then sticking with K2. He's made concessions his entire career and now has to sit around waiting for Canelo and his cronies to jerk him around. Hopefully Golovkin takes out that rage and knocks him straight tfo this time.

JMM was up there with my favorites as boxers to watch, and most of the time I liked the guy but you are god damn right when you said that he turned to cry baby when he lost. Seemed to have excuse for all the losses and never seemingly felt like he had lost and often didnt give the credit to his opponents if he lost

Great thread. Vitali is probably my favorite fighter. And while I think both are overstated, there is legitimate criticism about his resume and his track record in tough fights.

the thread title was : "fair criticism of your fave fighter"
    you've expressed a regret
that's twice I've asked you, and twice you simply can't bring yourself to be critical of Calzaghe
    try again.

Billy ducking GGG for years is blatantly untrue, UkGuy has a good imagination though.

Billy became WBO champ December 2015 and had signed to fight him by March 2017?

    Sanders:

    1) Not enough gym time
    2) Not active enough
    3) Needed a better promoter

Result: he wasted his prime crushing cans and beating guys other "names" had beaten already. I wish I could book into the timeline where he was a gym rat and he had a promoter that could get him Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis. I still believe that he had a legit chance of beating those guys.

Billy had no desire to fight GGG until his performances dipped Brook onwards FACT ! Saunders saying " You wanted to fight me when I wasn't in love with the game now i'm back in love with the game you don't want to know " is up there with some of the most twisted ideas that has left a boxers mouth ever...I support BJS but you would have to like stroking other mens *****'s to believe that ! He just one more fighter that was quiet when GGG was rampant !

    Hi Andrew,

I can't really criticise Vitali's resume that much.

He had bad injuries and operations.

    It's just unfortunate circumstances.

If he'd have had the extra 20 fights that Wlad had, he'd obviously have a much better resume.

Tyson Fury - I do see him returning, but oddly enough, the closer he gets to doing so, the more unlikely it seems to me that he’ll ever return to proper form.

His discipline problems have ruined him.

Although I don’t think it would have gotten this severe had he not been banned.

Why would he give credit to Pacquiao when he repeatedly beat him, and got robbed?
