    fighters like chavez built huge records against nobodies, fighting in sandlots. when he finally stepped up, things got a lot tougher for him.

    The 48-0 guys were all legacy seekers, that's what makes them unique

    Ricardo Lopez had Alvarez on his #48 #49 fights...a draw and SD barely ducking the bullet :yep

    Guys like Joe Calazage knew the 48-0 is not their class, he belongs to the 46-0 class with Valuev

    Had Valuev retired at 46-0 he would have been eye to eye with Joe Calazage

    Even more proof of the sandlot quality, Canelo had a 42-0 streak at the age of 23.

    I've never heard of any other weightclass really going for 50-0 (49-0 to tie) to break Marciano's record other than HW. As has been pointed out, it has been done in other weight classes.

    I believe the only serious/legititmate HW contender was Larry Holmes.
