It is my understanding that based on the rules, if you get knocked out the ring you have 20 seconds to come back in. So if you are in a fight being rocked and need an extra 10 seconds, is it a bad idea to take a punch near the ropes and purposely fall out the ring?

"9. A boxer shall receive a twenty (20) second count if the boxer is knocked out of the ring and onto the floor. The boxer is to be unassisted by spectators or his/her seconds. If assisted by anyone, the boxer may lose points or be disqualified with such a decision being within the sole discretion of the referee."
    wbo rules
    "11.
If a fighter falls outside the ring and ring apron, he will have 20
seconds to come back to the ring without assistance, unless the
    referee orders it."
    wbc rules
