I've not seen Barrera - Marquez from start to finish since it happened I think, so my memory is hazy, but I do recall it being close throughout iirc. Barrera got off to a sharp start as I remember with Marquez coming on strong from the midway point as Barrera slowed down. I think I scored it for JMM but Barrera unnecessarily japped himself with the knockdown when he hit Marquez when he was down. Really showed his knobbish side.

I thought Duran had the first Leonard fight won clean after the first ten rounds, he more or less swept them despite some of them being close and then coasted down the stretch a bit when Ray finally dug his heels in and clawed some ground back.

Jesus Christ, do we still have people who believe that "fight" was legit and not a prearranged circus where both parties agreed for the best possible outcome for both fighters?

    Cmon man. Wise up.

Yeah it's like when Tyson threw the fight against Lewis to give the fans a show. Does anybody really believe Tyson would lose to a big stiff idiot like Lennox? Pity that Lewis took that gift and ran. Tsk, tsk.

I thought hopkins clearly schooled shumenov.
Venitez clearly beat duran, not a close fight imo

I completely agree on Moorer-Botha. Moorer had Botha badly hurt in rd3, and was leading 7-4 or even 8-3 if you score the fight properly, including the KD in the 11th round.

    The fight wasn't very close.

Also, from that timeframe, Moorers fights vs Shulz and Bean weren't as close as judges' scorecards suggested.

I watched his fight vs Bean twice (yes, that borefest!) and both times I scored it 7-4-1 or 8-4 for Moorer.

vs Shulz Moorer won 8-4 or at worst 7-5. There's no case to score the Botha, Shulz or Bean fights as even or in favor of Moorer's opponents.

Seems like some judges didn't like that methodical boring style of Michael Moorer (he was different fighter under Manny Steward when he KO'd Alex Stewart or Bert Cooper in spectacular fashion)

I always felt that Roman Gonzalez won a close, but clear decision over Carlos Cuadras.

Mayweather was an old man by this point and had has een retired for how many years, then came out of retirement several times since, by the time McGregor fought him floyd had no hand speed, no footwork, his movement and reflexes were gone, he didn' fight the champ he fought an old man that used to be the champ, and he got knocked out by a dude that hasn' knocked anyone out in 20 years

Floyd threw on average 10 punches per round for the first 5 rounds while standing directly in front of McGregor with his hands glued to his face something he had never done before.
Mayweather did nothing those first 5 rounds while letting CM land his pitty pat arm punches in order to fool the casuals who bought the PPV into believing it was a real competitive fight. If he had embarrassed Conor from the start there would have been outrage by the mugs who paid to watch the 'fight' that they'd be conned into paying money to watch a mismatch but instead they got a fake but entertaining exhibition bout and believe they got their money's worth and will be willing to buy more of Floyd and Conor's 'fights' in the future.

There you go. LOL. Just watch the first round LOL. Conor is wide open for counters but Floyd does nothing but stand there with a big smile on his face.

Couldn't pull the trigger anymore when faced with an aggressive fighter.

Awesome. Did you hear about that one time Stone Cold Steve Austin got piledriven by The Undertaker and they had to take him to hospital in a beer truck? THAT is real. BOXING is fake. See? :deal: You should come watch real fighting, I hear Bam Bam Bigelow is coming back !!!!

    Ummmm ... because Floyd sucked?

You know the Wlad/Fury fight? Wlad stood round like he was shopping for a handbag all fight long because he wanted to give the fans a show. Nothing at all about being old and shot. He actually carried Fury, and Fury was supposed to get KO'd in the last round but he reneged on the deal. The nerve!

Who was training him prior to Steward? I thought he was a Kronk fighter from the get go...

Steward was his 1st trainer, then it was another great George Benton for a brief period. Under Teddy Atlas Moorer looked different, less explosive and more lazy, that was from 94 to 97 (incl. Shulz, Botha and Bean fights).
