Yes, good shout. I believe this was only fight Hagler he believed he lost and happens to be the one we’ll probably never see.

Yes, and it’s odd because Shields was ranked No. 6 by the WBC at the time (second ranked foe Leonard had faced, on the heels of the Floyd Mayweather Sr fight).

It was on a Friday night, so not televised.

Wasn’t particularly close: Ray won by five points on one card and three on the other two (5-point must). AP also had Ray by five points.

    Here’s an AP account: https://news.google.com/newspapers?...3935&dq=sugar+ray+leonard+randy+shields&hl=en

There’s one round of shaky footage shot from the crowd out there somewhere, I’ve stumbled across it before.

Not the only one missing, but Danny Lopez KO 4 Sean O’Grady (at age 17) is a Holy Grail fight of sorts.

Not missing, but IIRC not only did Larry Holmes demand huge money to come out of retirement to fight Tyson, he also negotiated so that he owned the rights to the footage (keeping it from Tyson’s team, which coveted fight films and wanted to own his complete collection). I think he ended up selling it to them for a handsome sum.

Larry was one of the best businessmen ever to box.

Yeah, but I’d like to see it in its entirety, not a 5 minute highlight.

A full version of the Frazier Bonavena rematch, would like to see what adjustments Joe made that time to win more clearly.

What is your problem. You can find the fight on a lot of collectors lists.
Do you think that because the film is not free on Youtube for the moment, that it does not exist?

A full fight version of Frazier - Bonavena exists. If it is not free on Youtube for the moment you can find it on a lot of traders lists.

I don’t have a problem. The OP asked “Famous fighters who are missing a filmed fight”. Did you misread it? I merely stated the chuvalo-Jones fight because all that is on YouTube is some crap highlight vid, which I wouldn’t bother with. So don’t get in my face about it.

I didn’t know that. How astute. I guess Larry might’ve also had an inkling that his fight vs Mike would ultimately become part of Tyson’s KO highlight reel. Good luck to Larry, too many fighters got shafted - Larry pivoted and made very sure it all fell in his favour.
