Bob Fitzsimmons wins the most glorious title in all of sports with a single body blow. Prettiest: Mike McCallum's sweeping left hook that landed on the point of Donald Curry's chin. Curry goes spread-eagle and is counted out. An absolutely perfect KO. This is random, but watch the slow motion replay of Roberto Duran dropping Davey Moore with that straight right. The way the sweat sprays off Duran's hair when it lands looks savage and utterly awesome, as is the way the punch explodes off Moore's jaw, dropping him on the seat of his pants.
The replays are at the 3 min, 30 sec mark and go to the 4 min mark. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TF6at28s3wQ[/ame]
A more recent example that I don't think has been mentioned was Tarver's left hand on Jones, but I guess to a large extent that punch has lost some of its luster due to the fact RJJ has been KO'd so many times since.
No love for Walcotts KO of Charles? Or earnies near decapitation of jimmy ellis? As someone replied earlier, the daddy of them all just gotta be SRR-Fullmer
Kid Gavilan's bolo punch - not one particular punch I know John L Sullivans right hand.... for British fans Frank Bruno's left hook when he hurt Tyson in fight 1 round 1 - "and Bruno's hurt Tyson!!!" He's hurt Tyson...get in there Frrankk!!!" LOL
It was Kid Gavilan, I think, who made it famous. It may have actually been Ceferino Garcia, who used it before him.
Firpo's punch that knocked Dempsey out of the ring is immortalised, though some say it was more of a push that a punch. Marciano KO13 Walcott Schmeling's first couple of big right hands on Louis are famous too. Ali's 'phantom/anchor' punch. And Ray Robinson's punch on Gene Fullmer !
Julian Jackson's right hand landed on Graham. Frazier's FOTC left hook in the 15th round that knocked Ali down. Louis' monster right hand in his rematch against Schmeling. Ketchel's left hook on Sullivan.
SRR's left hook against Gene Fullmer in 1957...how about Bob Foster's left hook against Mike Quarry in 1972...Marciano landing the right hand against Walcott in 1952...
I always loved Arguello's arrow right hand on Kevin Rooney. McCallum's left hook on Curry Curry's left hook on Milton McRory Julian Jacksons devastation of Herol Graham. Sickening. Forman's uppercut on Frazier that lifted him off his feet. Tysons right hand on Botha, one of his best. Lewis' first right hand he dropped Ruddock with and the one he KO'ed Rahman with.
