Can anyone confirm whether Valero really sparred with Pacquaio before, and that he got the better of the exchanges? Roach had been denying this though. The interesting thing is, Montoya of ********** is claiming it indeed happen. Anyone with knowledge about it?
I remember reading somewhere that Marlon was giving Thomas all he could handle at the time.I know Marlon was streaking nice up until that moment.
I've got the Mayweather Jr/Spadafora tapes. Floyd put it on Paulie in the first half a lot worse than Paul returned the favor in the second half.
Guys.....especially ring master great thread:good I can actually say i havent enjoyed a thread like this in ages
Please change your ****in avatar, it's gay as hell. Duran knocked a couple of middleweights in sparring while Dundee was the trainer at a gym in Miami (If I recall well from Duran's biography) Calderon got the better of DLH before the Mayweather fight Joe Frazier knocked down Sylvester Stallone
That is a way to stop the sparring sessions. Break a guys jaw. lol And I remember when Hearns bruised and almost broke one of McCallum's ribs in training. That story never came out much since they were trying to build up McCallum as the next great champ. And he was, but Hearns apparently landed a left hook to the ribs and knocked down McCallum and bruised his rib. Hearns was getting ready for either Sutherland or Michillo.
What the hell happened to Clay-Bey, always enjoyed watching him work, he was a classy operator. His fight with Etienne is one of my favourite HW fights, shame he was so damn lazy
at the time in 1981 I did hear about the Marlon Starling jaw situation. McCallum and bruised rib few years later?? I heard a rumor but nothing concrete back at the end of 1983. Something in the paper about Boxing superstar Thomas Hearns roughing up young fighter Mike McCallum in sparring with a bodyshot, but I thought it was just rumor at the time. I am not sure I put much into that. Mike incidentally was older than Hearns by a year or two. The Starling jaw thing was reported in Sports Illustrated in the fall of 1981 I remember.
