There's some great accounts so far, and in most/all cases seem fairly credible.

Seems in the prelude to most bouts there's some outrageous statement or other about a KD, KO, schooling etc. More often than not they only amount to hype for bigger attendances and $PPV.

If I remember, McCall dropped Tyson with a bodyshot before the Douglas fight.

George was young and green at the time.....and Liston was his hero.

You can pretty well figure out how the sparring session went.

That's the first I've seen it in slow motion. Actually, that was a pretty good shot.

Roy Jones used to spar with Maurice Harris. It's been used as proof Jones used to have a decent/good chin.

There's the Mac Foster sparking out Liston story. There's the verified Ruben Carter/Liston sparring story where Liston hit Carter so hard his headgear flew off and ringside observers thought Ruben had been decapitated at first. Carter promptly ran out of town.

Golota supposedly used to handle Tua during sparring. Golota was a better gym fighter then a actual one, no stress, no crowd, etc.

There's footage of Hearn's sparring with Ali late in Ali's career. Ali looks slow and lacksadasical but that was the norm in sparring.

Eugene Hart in his own words recently said he gave Ali a bloody nose in sparring when he was 18/19, which is what made him believe he could be a fighter.

Didn't Ivan Calderon embarass Hoya prior to the Pacquiao fight?

Yes I watched Golota spar with Tua, he held his own. I wouldnt say he handled Tua though. Tua hurt everyone in sparring, he was such a huge puncher.

I was working with Friday Ahunanya in the gym about 5 years ago when he was sparring with Ruslan Chagaev, Out of nothing Friday clipped Ruslan with a left hook that backed Chagaev into the far ropes then hit Chagaev with a straight right hand that slumped Chagaev onto the bottom rope scrambling around deserately, he squatted right down to an almost seated position and managed to jump up , but his eyes were swirlin in his head and he had to go and sit awhile and get some attention.. we were stunned as it came out of absolutely zero action.. Chagaev always said (Until last saturday) Friday was the only one who managed to get him on the floor.. Chagaev was pretty hurt, the right hand was a beaute... It made a crisp pop as it landed .. timing was impecable..

I also saw Charles Shufford Ko'd by a massive heavyweight called Todd Diggs in Las Vegas, Charles used to punk around like a practcal joker sometimes and act like he was hurt so everyone though when his back slammed the canvas he was kidding around.. but he didn't move a muscle.. he just walked onto a hook and it just put him to sleep, he was just like a big old dude taking a snooze..... lol
