If you look at it Mayweather got his audience from De La Hoya in 2007. De La Hoya was a big PPV star and then a record audience saw Mayweather barely beat him. And thats when the transition seems to have taken place.

I agree 110%. It wasn’t Pac-Man himself. His fan base is really the only fan base in all of sports that I hate and I mean it.
I think Mayweather got such great PPV numbers because so many people hated him and wanted to see him lose
Yes. Floyd was not a fan-favoutite so he technically doesn't count in this thread. He sold out arenas because he was a polarizing figure that marketed himself as a cocky, flashy fighter that fans wanted to see lose.
