OK - we seem to have a fair amount of these for each of our top British boxers at the moment, so who are the biggest huggers and haters for: Ricky Hatton Joe Calzaghe David Haye Junior Witter Carl Froch Amir Khan These are probably the six highest profile pugilists in the UK - other than Audley but there are no fanboys for the A-Farce :deal so are you a - :smh or a - lzdie
You might see a trend here. I may be wrong but it seems to me that a lot of people who like Haye also like Hatton + a lot of people who like Calzaghe like Witter. As for Froch + Khan i don't think many people like them.
To be honest, I couldn't say I dislike any of them. However - I could find reasons for liking/disliking each of them. Hatton - funny guy, down to earth and a brave fighter. fighting a tomato can as a homecoming for all his fans. Calzaghe - top boxer, down to earth. spent too much time hugging WBO belt instead of chasing superfights. Haye - new kid on the block, entertaining. arrogant and chinny (possibly) Witter - hard done by, underdog etc. Comes across as an arrogant knob. Froch - smart, good boxer, knows his own mind. arrogant and deluded - must be a newcastle utd fan Khan - olympic medalist, good prospect. arrogant, won't fight a guy who can punch.
I really like Hatton, caught on to him during the Magee fight and have watched every single fight since. Was seriously gutted when Floyd knocked him out. If I could watch any guys fights, it would be Hatton's. I respect Calzaghe, I think he's unbeatable in SMW/LHW in this era, I can't see anybody out there capable of beating him. He has no charisma, but seems a good guy. Haye's fantastic, he's very confident and backs it up. Love watching him fight, because it feels like he's going to knock them out get knocked out at any moment. I don't like Witter. He's made his name by stalking Hatton, I have no respect for anybody whose only claim to fame is jockeying another boxer. He's also arrogant without reason to be. I have no real opinion of Froch, seems brash and arrogant, I want to see him step in class. I want Khan to do well, he gets a lot of undeserved criticism and a lot of undeserved praise. Hopefully he'll go on to be a multi weight champion.
Witter's made his name by stalking Hatton? funny, I coulda sworn he's got a good record with some good wins and won the WBC title off his own back. I didn't realise Hatton helped him. Hatton - cannot stand the guy and most of his fan, utter morons. Khan - comes across as a jumped up ****head. Red carpet treatment. Don't like him. Haye - top man. Calzaghe - don't like him much. UK's only elite level fighter. Witter - been ****ed over and had bad breaks during his career but has still done well. I like him. Froch - entertaining, like him.
Ricky Hatton - Helps encourage chav infestation in boxing and breeds moronic fans of the sport. Has fought good competition but his lack of willingness to engage in what would have been a wholly meaningful fight with the consensus number 1 contender at his weight really bugged me. Still rate him highly though. Amir Khan - Dislike him. Tries and fails to supress arrogance. David Haye - Used to really, really like him. However what was once a cheeky confidence with a hint of arrogance has recently spiralled out of control to the point he's become an obnoxious *******. Ballsy guy though and much respect as a fighter I do wish him well at HW. Junior Witter - Feel for the guy. Never had the same marketing as Hatton enjoyed under Warren that allowed Ricky to get the big fights. He was never really given an opportunity by the champ at 140 but still did very well at the weight and beat alot of good fighters. Carl Froch - Mediocre. Good chin, good power, **** footwork, average skills. Bit arrogant as well: would love to see Kessler flatten him. Joe Calzaghe - Best SMW of all time. Doesn't act like a starstruck schoolboy ala Hatton either - guy goes in and does his job and does it very well. One of the best British fighters of all time and when he's on he's great to watch.
I see arrogance as a trait which is overconfidence and yet to be backed up. Whereas Haye backs his mouth up, so I see him as very confident. Also, Haye's is often done with a smirk and a wink. Witter is deadly serious when he bigs himself up. As for Witter, yes he's won a WBC belt, but he'd get zero press coverage/interest if it wasn't for Hatton.
I like them all, to differing degrees Hatton homos - onourway, SleazeNation Witter wankers - scurla, Betty (maybe not huggers so much as Hatton haters) Amir Asslickers - Baileys_tune The rest don't seem to have much of a sack swinging society Oh, and that Olu bloke sometimes crawls out of Oluseguns ass to post here
That's exactly why I don't like Haye. He was talking all that **** before he had achieved anything. I've got a bit more time for him now he's proved he's the real deal. As for your opinion most of Haye's smack talk is tongue in cheek, I don't agree, I can't for the life of me see this charisma people talk about in relation to Haye.
