Noted. :think Now that I think of it, those are the exact guys who were in the back of my head when drawing up my critique of the the modern era's not quite dempsey-be-nimble elite. And that's a very good excuse. They'd be stupidly downplaying their natural advantage if they deviated from their "drop anchor, slide lead foot forward to jab and then reel her back in" approach. And none of the smaller heavyweights look like the vintage type, because in actuality they're all fat cruisers (or very fat middles, in some cases...not naming names :yep).

Also, imagine being a man that size and losing your balance in the ring. It would be terrifying

You definitely stay bouncing on your toes pretty well throughout. The other kid in blue, in contrast, has the usual "sandal-on-the-beach" stepping style you see a lot of. He's trained elsewhere, I gather?

That what they make us do at our gym, non stop on your toes. They emphasize speed more than coming forward and knockout power. My trainer says that throughout training you must stay moving on your toes as this should be your normal state in the ring.

It´s also about styles. But some trainers are afraid of that movement cause it takes a lot of energy out of you, "stay in the middle, control the area and you´ll win" I usually say, "Yes, say that to Ali"
The thing is, if you are gonna dance all night long you have to train for it. Just like if you are gonna bob and weave all the night, you have to train for it. Perhaps they trained harder before than today. I don´t know, but I rather watch some boxers that moves good than just stands in the middle and throw punches or jabs, when it´s needed, it might be effective but very boring and in the end you will get caught.

good comment on training on dancing all night if you do do it and being prepared.
EG look at Acelino Freitas against Diego Coralles.
He was winning the fight and outboxing him but lost energy

Correct footwork is small steps to take you where you want and put you in the correct spot to punch.

Running & circling in itself is not ''good'' footwork.
