Alot seems to ride on an undefeated record to many fans of boxing, so I just wanted to ask a few questions of how high people rate these boxers and what if....

Froch (A fighter who I like)
When Froch fought J Taylor, J Taylor was clearly outboxing him and looking on the verge of a points win. Now we know that Froch caught Taylor with some big shots in the 12th round and scored a final minute KO.

What is your opinion of Froch & If Froch had of lost what would your opinion be?

Now same question with Bute. Bute (another fighter I like) was outboxing Andrade in their first fight, only to have a bad 12th round where he was staggering around and the fight could have been stopped, many fighters have been stopped for less.

Now what is your opinion of Bute and what would it be if the ref had of stopped the fight, and Bute had of lost?

The point is how much people throw in about when a fighter losses.
If the ref had of stopped the fight in favour of Andrade when he fought Bute. Bute would have been viewed as a fraud by many and written off by many, yet because the ref let it go on and let Bute carry on, Bute can now have claim to being the #1 SMW. A loss to Andrade would have put him very far down the list

    I like hard punchers, therefore...
I felt that Froch was limited during the Taylor fight, and I feel the same now although I do like his punch, and I wish he was on HBO more before the super six thing.
I felt that Bute was too damn lucky against Andrade, but since then he has looked quite impressive, and I like his punch.
as for everyone else, brits will like froch and cans will like bute. anyone who says otherwise, i will call a liar, and we will agree to disagree.
if froch faces bute, that would solve many arguements, but it's more likely bute will face ward. best of luck to froch against johnson...

Bute has ****en fought no one and is is deserving of not a damn thing but he seems to be the new White hope here on ESB inherited the mantle from Kessler who was the old hope until his recent exposure but Bute is the one they are hugging hard these days

The Bute stains are puffing up Magee something fierce to justify Saturdays bull****. Meanwhile guys like BHop, Dawson, Pascal, Diacaneau, Cloud, roam the earth at about 170-175 but Lucy Bute is well not inclined to have made anything happen the last two years against any of these....total Bull**** and this guy will eventually be exposed for the Hype job he is.

Froch on the other hand is a Stud fights anyone and gets **** on by the morons here at ESB. I love Froch, thought he got robbed vs Kessler

Always liked Froch as person and boxer so my opinion wouldnt have changed. Am aware of his limitations but think his strenghs outweigh them all.

That said it took Froch a long time to get his shot, so defeat would have meant going back to Euro level, no super 6, Hennassy with no TV deal would have meant no coverage and his career would have stalled.

The questions have been lost a bit in peoples hate.
Its what would be yours and others perceptions if those fighters had of lost the mentioned fights

Yes defeat would have been bad and Froch wasnt young when he won his title.
So it is probably fair to say Froch would have been written off.
    What about Bute?

Depending what he had done after Froch could well be facing Bute and being viewed along the lines of Magee. Its a fickle game!

I like Bute. The thing with Bute is even if he got the loss he did what i like in fighters and rematched quickly and set the record straight. Doesnt quite wipe the slate but was impressive. He gets stick for a poor resume and its fair enough but he has got the time to have a potentially great record. In the next few years he could face Kessler then Ward / Froch, then up to LH to clear up.

It's not so much IF a guy wins or loses, but HOW a guy wins or loses.

Froch showed extreme heart and determination in going after Taylor and taking a fight he was otherwise losing out of the judges hands. Even if he lost that fight, he went out like a man.

Bute was blatantly saved by the referee in a total rob job. Plus, for most of the fight, Andrade was pushing the action. He never showed any balls by acknowledging the gift he received and his backers started making best in the division claims. Had Bute lost that fight, then requested a rematch, I would have much more respect for him.

I like Bute but I want to see him beat someone of 'Super Six' caliber before I think he's truly legit. I am not high on Froch compared to most of this board.

don't forget that Jermain Taylor, Arthur Abraham, Allan Green, Glen Johnson, and Sakio Bika have done nothing to show that they are any better than Librado Andrade and... Sakio Bika.

"super 6" caliber = Ward, Kessler, and Froch. There's only 3 of them. Dirrell at a stretch

Bute is fighting Magee next who is a better fighter than Green or Abraham as a SMW.
The S6 is a great competition but dont be fooled by its hype. G Johnsons record at SMW is awful, his record is 6-6-0 with Green coming off a loss as his biggest win.
Abraham has had 2 very recent clear losses, remember Magee gave Froch a tougher fight than Abraham

Exactly. Magee if not better has accomplished more at SMW than Dirrell even

I didn't mean to be too hard on Bute because i do like him and him destroying Miranda made me quite happy. But Froch (who I think is overrated here), Ward, and Kessler have a win each at the level above Bute. I'm not the type who thinks Bute is only fighting cans in his home town and will get destroyed by the S6 guys.
