Like i said at 145 i like JMM chances. You can say all you want but JMM chin is great. His legs may buckle but ala Trinidad he always comes back firing. Cotto i dont think has the power to put JMM away and JMM has the power to stun Cotto and not to mention the skill to outbox him. With the size differential being limited and Cotto being weakend by the weight drain at 145. I will take JMM by decision.

Cotto would kill him. He's way too big for marquez.

I agree with most of this but why do people think JMM wants to cash out? Since when is money his prerogative? A moneygrubber doesnt fight like he does.

So your telling me the marquez that lost to floyd + a couple more pounds. Would be able to handle Cotto that fought pacquiao? I don't see how. I picturing Juan covering up a lot. getting hurt by some big blows to the body. Might do well early. But once cotto learns he can't hurt him. I see it going the quintana way.

Look at the way he talks. he only wants to fight the big names. Amir, pacquaio and cotto. those guys are cash out fight. Amir would be fine. Why else would he fight floyd or follow Pacquaio to no end.

just wouldnt work. cotto too strong for jmm. I love Jmm and rate him as a fighter but anything over 140lbs puts him in great risk of being beat. JMM should be targetting khan, bradley, alexander. Cotto on the other hand should target williams/martinez winner, big money and he has a legit chance of winning.

    Not interested in that fight.

If JMM beats Katsidis i would like to see him move up to 140 and go for his 4th title against the winner of Bradley-Alexander or the winner of Khan-Maidana.

Im a huge fan of both. But lets be serious Cotto already had trouble making 147. At 145 he will not be at 100%

You are comparing PBF with Cotto? THey fight nothing alike. Cotto likes to trade and is easy to find even when he isnt trading. A sharp counter puncher like JMM would not have a problem landing on him. Cotto never really hurt or stunned Pac. JMM stunned and hurt Pac a few times in their rematch.

You are assuming that JMM wont be able to hurt Cotto because he did not hurt PBF. Well who does!? Its nearly impossible to land clean on him and not to mention he is fast as hell so every time JMM threw he got countered.

Cotto will be right in front of JMM who is faster than him and in the middle of an exchange i can see JMM who has hurt Pac catching Cotto with something beautiful that will make Cotto think more and well if he tries to outbox JMM it will look like the second Diaz fight.

So my prediction is the first four rounds are very even and Cotto possibly even drops JMM but JMM shakes it off and in the middle of one of those exchanges JMM catches Cotto with something and puts him in trouble. I dont think he finishes him but he earns Cottos respect enough to make him box and thats where JMM pulls ahead in the scorecards.
Remember this is a 145 pound Cotto not the current 154 pound Cotto.

To be fair? Didn't Marquez himself discredit Pac for fighting Cotto at catchweight?

He never discredited it. He said he could do the same if the catchweights were in place. I dont know if you guys cant read the captions or dont understand Spanish. In this interview he never discredits Pac. He just says his fights are carefully picked by Arum and if he fought under the same conditions he would do the same. Never does he trash talk PAc.

They are my two favorite fighters. I would hate to see this happen as neither has anything to gain.

Because he wants to be recognized as the best after feeling he beat the number 1 twice and make history for his country by capturing a 4th title? He's set financially; he's had a background in accounting before boxing and has had numerous paydays throughout a long career, including the one with Floyd.

what kind of sadistic fan would put 37 year old 135lb Marquez in with Cotto whose a jr middleweight right now. the only reason marquez should go beyond 140 is a fight with paquiao at a catch weight of less than 147

WTH? Even if these 2 fought at a catchweight and JMM won I wouldn't rate him above MAB and Morales. When these 2 were in their primes they gave some of the best fights in boxing history and pretty much you could say destroyed and left their primes after fighting each other twice. I've ranked JMM in the past higher than MAB and Morales, but after seeing Erik's victory over Pacman was probably more convincing, didn't get floored, and even dared to give away a round and fight as a lefty mocking Pacman I think Morales gets a higher nod. JMM does have some balls for challenging Margarito and Cotto. I don't see Gamboa, Lopez, John, or Caballero challenging any bigger men.
