The Sweet Science are based off of the London Prize Ring Rules, which later evolved into the Marquess of Queensberry rules. These have now been modified into what there is today. Boxing is a martial art/combat form based off of Fist Fighting. It is Fighting, there are no and's, if's, or but's about it. Technical fighting is the evolution through time to improve a form that was simply "Fist Fighting"! Go back in history, one of the first Heavyweight Champions in the US was John Morissey, an Irish-American gangster and barroom brawler.

Well not just anyone. If you're in the pros and ranked, then I think its safe to classify that person as a boxer.

You're making it seem as if i'm referring to 2 drunk bar brawlers that they took out the bar to compete in a tough man contest.

You are missing my point. A Boxing match is about winning not ONLY "blood and action". If all you are watching to see is "blood and action" you are not a Boxing fan. You are a FIGHT fan not a Boxing fan. You can geit your "fix" watching Tough Man.

Mayorga ain't a "fighter". Mayorga is a Boxer. A crazy one, but a Boxer. Watch the fight. The man is defensively responsible, but swings for the fences every time he gets him in trouble. He then goes all out once he has the guy in trouble. Fighting is used as a tactic.

Alexander vs Bradley was ****ing gay

Before Alexander even stopped himself, you could see he wasn't there to win.

I agree, and at that point the guy is using skills.

That is how it comes across. If a good Boxing match with skilled Boxers gets bloody and action filled? Fine. If two bums are knocking each other senseless? That is a fight.

We may be shooting past each other in the "darkness".

Actually no. Most purists consider brawls "skilless fighting". Purest prefer slick, elusive, defensive fighters who outpoint thier opponents.

When boxers are throwing wild punches without much regard for defense why wouldn't a purist be put off? I've not heard anyone complaining about calculated aggression...

Best fights are when the slick boxer is controlling the mauler, slugger, brawler, or puncher.

    Whitaker-Chavez
    Hopkins-Trinidad
    Mayweather-Hatton
