I'm still pretty indifferent to him really, I've always thought he's come across as a decent enough chap.

Undoubtedly talented and now world champion.............................I just want to see him tested, see how good he really is.

 

I also don't get how people get so hot under the collar about his attitude. He's never been unduly arrogant as far as I'm concerned and it's not his fault Warren has manged him well. he's aware of the descenting voices and is working extremely hard to maximise his potential under Roach. It's hypoctritical for guys on here to say that his bahaviour has been out of order (other than the traffic accident) as the vast majority of posters would have acted the same way as a teenager with so much exposure and money. Very few have the natural in-built discipline to walk a different route in that situation. What's the kid supposed to do?

 

I think if he goes stateside in his next fight he will be tested. A tough undercard fight, Diaz/Malignaggi or Judah will do nicely!

 

I used to be on his "side". I knew the public were being decieved and he wasn't as good as we were told but, at the end of the day, that's not his fault.

What I object to strongly, and something that I will never forgive him for, is his comments about not being white. He has been promoted as a "Muslim everyone can like" and has also been given oppunities that white fighters, as I say above, such as John Murray or even someone like Jamie Moore who deserved an equal amount of media attention or boxing chances that Khan got, were denied.

Khan has proved himself to be an ungrateful **** of the highest order. I wish him nothing but bad luck in boxing.

 

John Murray and co should blame their promoter, Khan got exposure through doing well in the Olympics aged 17, ITV liked his style and he appealed to the mainstream public, not exactly Khan's fault is it. What is John Murray doing exactly that is so worthy of recognition? struggling against journeyman, failing to make weight, pulling out of fights, fighting guys Khan fought and beat a few years ago, beating a shot Thaxton, not exactly scintillating stuff.

 

Of course when Khan was on ITV all those nasty, racist, white, little-Englanders turned over to BBC1 and he was struggling to get 50,000 viewers. :-(

He will never be as popular as Hatton and its nothing to do with his colour. Hatton uses his support of Manchester City to maxium effect and most people doubt that Khan ever stepped foot inside Bolton's ground before he became successful which is why he hasn't attracted a crowd from them.

Khan WAS/IS a superstar. He was getting MILLIONS of viewers on ITV and only gets booed in boxing venues by peole who suspect that he has been fast-tracked and because of his "fans" who, if you have ever been to a Khan show, cause trouble, get battered by whatever football firms are in the venue (they got battered by about 20 West Ham fans at the Excel a couple of years ago) and then say it was racially provoked.

I have been attending boxing shows for many years and have been to see events in many diverse places: Venues like the old Wembley, Millwall FC, York Hall, Crystal Palace, Excel etc: and I have NEVER heard any fighter being racially abused. I may have been lucky but I have always found Boxing fans to be unlike their football counterparts.

And it is ill-concieved statements like Khan's that annoy white people who, it is important to remember, are around 90% of the population of Britain. He has been given a lot of support by those whites, earned a lot of money and comes out with **** like that? He has and will create his own so-called racist problems.

 

How much more "popular" does he want to be?! He's not really beaten anyone good in his career (yet) and is filling out venues in the UK. You can spin it whatever way you like but it was one idiotic comment.

His dad was on damage control the same day, you cant try and get out of how silly what he said was. That said he is a young lad and the media will pounce on his naivety.

 

I blame the journos who keep asking questions about religion, race, every interview, he's a boxer, no other boxer gets asked these questions over and over again.

 

And yet Hatton was popular with Warren despite the fact that, like Khan, most people knew he wasn't as good as we were being told...

If Khan wants to win over the fans he needs to stop coming out with bull**** like this and sort out his "fans" because, and this is obvious to everyone, soon you will find a United Football Firm coming to one of his shows numbering in the 100's and there will be serious problems for the mouthy ****s who "support" Khan.

 

Theres a massive booing culture in this country, I dont think he should take it to heart, it's just what happens. Man Utd get it from their own "supporters", Phil Taylor is the most popular darts player and gets it, boxers get it etc etc.

He definitely does get a lot of unjustified shite but as sad as it is it comes with the territory. If you're in the public eye you'll get stick and unfair personal jibes, that doesnt mean he has to accept it but he does need to have thicker skin and think of the positives. Newcastle was sold out and he got a fantastic reception for example.

I also think he's pretty naive if he thinks America is the end of any woes, its far from perfect and just recently at Pacquiao v Cotto Cotto was booed because he dared to go backwards for a bit!

And yes he's definitely very promising and deserves a lot of credit for the way he came back.
