Good riddance. The man always tried to save safe when the outcome of a fight turned out to be different to what his predictions were going in. Example, when Groves was outboxing Froch he was singing the praises of Groves while trashing Froch for being slow and clumsy. Then when Froch splatters him over the canvas he changed his tune to something like this, "See, I told you all it'd end this way. Froch is just too strong". he never admits to being surprised. Another one was trashing Dillian Whyte the moment the bell rang in the first round for being an inferior boxer just because AJ was loading up like he always does in 1st round. Then the fight went 7 rounds with AJ being tested and wobbled a bunch of times lol.
i will go against the grain on here. i like him, especially with reg gutteridge. enjoyed watching him as a pro and listening to him as a commentator. all todays commentators have to over emphasize fights and fighters or they are let go / as soon as you saY A word out of line (gary mason ) you are sacked , so you get todays commentators
Watt had that voice woo plus it would take him a week to go white if he went to Spain on holiday.bet O'Grady is chuffed might stick the head into Jim when he sees him .stich that!
Could not understand a word of half the things he said and the other half I could understand was complete BS. He simply got everything wrong from boxers being pummelled in the head until nearly dead and he would blame the ref for stepping in to early to a boxer slipping over then he would say "his legs have gone to jelly is head needs to clear, the ref should stop this" Complete and utter fool..! so lets D I S C O :boogiearty:klitfanb:wha:
Oh, so you're from Scotland or from Europe? Because no American, South American, Australian, African, Asian, or Antartican lol would ever care whether he retired or not. We did care about him as a fighter doe. "Boogie Down Productions will always get paid We'll take the wackest lie, and make it better Remember you let us under your skin 'Cause then you'll begin...to master Lyin', lyin', lyin', lyin', :rofl
I'm Scottish, so I obviously have respect for Jim and what he achieved as a fighter ... but in the last few years, his commentary and, particularly, his scorecards have been awful. He relied on a few cliches (any defensive fighter was "cute", any southpaw was "awkward") and it seemed like he wasn't paying attention half the time.
Vitali clearly hurt Solis with that clubbing right to the temple... His legs buckled and his weak knee gave out.
I miss Ian Darke on sky, he is an excellent broadcaster at boxing and football too. This might sound stupid and this guy annoys me a little but when Paulie Malignaggi has worked for sky he has been excellent, really impressed with his commentary and knowledge on the sport. I would not mind if sky considered him more to cover some fights. He's annoying but I think the brits have a soft spot.
