Fantasy Fight: James Toney vs Andre Ward who would have won prime for prime?

Ward by decision. Toney poses too much and is outworked.

 

What a surprise

 

He was outboxing Canelo easily before the stoppage. He was clearly damaged from Ward and other hard fights since then, and took the fight was less than ideal time after a fight in which he was badly hurt.

The Kovalev Ward fought would've easilly beat Canelo IMO.

 

I think Toney beats Kovalev more easily than Ward. Styles make fights. The Ward fight would be close but to me Toney's superior handspeed would be the deciding factor.Then again you never know with the judges (I though Toney won both Griffin fights but the judges saw it differently)

 

ridiculous excuses. Actually i always did think that kovalev was an overrated joke. Canelo ****ed him just like would do toney

 

Toney gets turned constantly and is a half step behind all night. boring fight & zero exchanges and tons of feinting. what there would not be is very many clean punches landed.

 

Whatever the outcome would be between the two, there is zero chance Ward is getting 'embarrased' that's for sure.

 

It's a good fight, and Toney at anything less than his best would lose a tight-ish decision. On his best night, I would put Toney in a slightly higher class H2H, and would favour him to pull out the stops and win a competitve but clear verdict.

Both men had immense ring IQ's and would produce a performance studied for years, though it wouldn't be an exciting firefight.

Gives a **** James Toney whoops Ward badly.

 

Toney was without question the better infighter.

 

Aside from jab and move James did almost everything better. He was faster, hit harder had a better work rate, combos, defense take your pick James was a level above ward.
