Wowww... as a man no class ? I liked your post but you went bananas in there.

C´mon, let´s not pretend that other guys were honored gentlemen, I don´t know where you from and how old you are but back in the day guys were womanizer, it was accepted....
People were cheap back in the day too, it was normal. Suddenly people made money, remember, Rocky was born in the depression days.
IRS cheating, 90% of people didn´t pay taxes correctly, most still do not TODAY !!

Yeah, I know, Rocky was a "man's man." Do you think it was okay and perfectly normal to treat all women like whores? I don't agree with that. When he retired he said he wanted to spend more time with his family. I guess he got bored with that **** because the guy was seldom at home. He was out on the road demanding a free suit whenever he made an appearance and, judging by his weight he let his eating habits get the best of him. He just wasn't an admirable human being. Floyd Patterson, by contrast, kept his humility and treated women with respect. And Joe Frazier trained his sons. I get tired of all the Rocky worshipping. Larry Holmes was right.

Okay, you are going to the other way to balance things up because Rocky was praised a lot.

Since we are at that, did PAtterson ever praise Cus ? Patterson had no business being HW champion, it was Cus the one who made it happen.... 0-0 contenders and all that bs... when he decided against Cus... Liston almost killed him.

And Larry Holmes is the ****ing worst of them all because he is so ****ing annoying.... give me the womanizer and cheap ******* before a guy that could not accept critics....

Rocky was a great but overpraised fighter. It started with one of his sons who claimed that Joe Louis conceded in private to Rocky that he was the greatest. I don't believe Joe ever said that. I also think if a prime Louis had fought Rocky he would have knocked Marciano out. Regarding Floyd and Cus, Floyd praised Cus in his autobiography "Victory Over Myself." But Cus had his faults. All the while he condemned Liston's mobster handlers, Cus was secretly allied with Fat Tony Salerno, who was far more powerful than Frank Carbo and Blinky Palermo. Floyd didn't know this; Cus had always portrayed himself as Mr. Clean fighting the forces of evil. When the Fat Tony association became public, Floyd felt betrayed. After the two Liston fights Floyd cut Cus off without ever making a statement. I think it's unfair to give Cus all or even most of the credit for Patterson winning the title --for the obvious reason that he did all the fighting. I mean, Vic, come on!

I believe I read somewhere that Cus had a cousin in the Genovese family, so naturally he had ties with them... hardly surprising though, I mean, everybody in NYC had some sort of connection with the mob, this was not Cus... there is a story that Al Certo was actually a a made guy in the Gambino family.... Buddy McGirt was somehow involved...... all guys from.......... NYC! Floyd was naive, so yeah I believe he didn´t know, but I don´t think that meant anything, it´s not like Fat Tony was fixing any Patterson fights...

I think there was also an element of Floyd wanting to be his own man. He was a kid w
Sure. That was the boxing game. And not only in New York. All across the country. If you didn't line up with the mob guys you didn't get a title shot. You didn't make a living from the sport. So that was Cus's game, to claim that he was pure and he wanted to keep Floyd free from the Mob's clutches -- all as an excuse to duck Liston. Floyd got tired of being accused of cowardice. He was a proud man. And finally he defied Cus. He did the honorable thing and signed to fight Liston. I give him credit.

Swag, thx for the support.... I don't blame Cus. Palermo and especially Carbo were bad guys who proved willing to back up their threats with violence. Cus needed a Salerno to keep himself and his fighter safe. There's so much about all of this stuff that we'll never know.

There are arguments for both guys here.
Imagine a series of fights being split and resulting in career altering damage for both.
My first thought was Frazier, based on slightly more ‘finesse’ and possibly better inside fighting. But the more I turn it over in my head the more I see Rocky having a great chance to really hurt anyone who is fighting him at that range.
I imagine Rocky being cut, this might be a factor but at the range they fight at it may not.
I will say Frazier but my confidence is not high, as close to 50-50 as a fight can be.
