Perhaps but i lost count of the times in the late 70's and 80's where fighters that had fought both opponents were incorrect in their predictions of a fight between them. Even fighting both can leave you a long way from picking a winner.

I watched the Alexis Arguello vs Ruben Castillo title bout on Jan 20 1980 live, Arguello stopped Castillo, Ruben appeared to trouble Alexis until Arguello caught him on the ropes. Then in Phoenix, Arizona on Feb 2 1980, Salvador Sanchez stopped Danny Little Red Lopez in round 13 to win the WBC World Featherweight Title. I think both were great fighters.

I'd take Arguello above Feather where i think it would be quite tight.

That fight was being talked about just before Sanchez died. Even though Sanchez would have been moving up 2 weight classes, I thought he had a real good chance of beating Arguello.

As much as I really liked both, Alexis did have trouble with movement and counter punchers as he had trouble in his non title loss to Vilomar Fernandez. Salvador was starting to have trouble making 126 lbs in 1982.
