Good matchups. Why “Franklin” though? Are you referring to the pre-champion version from before he renounced that name?

I do, but I call it him because I saw @robert ungurean say he saw a newspaper say he didn't want to be called it anymore, and he revoked his religion and became Christian again. I'm inclined to take his word for it.

I still call Ali Ali. I still call Qawi Qawi and Mustafa Mustafa. It is how it is. Some times I may say Eddie Gregory just to differentiate, but that's it.

Yeah, I'm pretty skeptical about the story Robert mentioned. I saw it too, a long time ago (if we're talking about the same one). Came across more like an assertively Christian interviewer with an agenda who was asking him leading questions, if I recall correctly. I also find it hard to believe that he wouldn't have been able to get help changing his name if he really had been interested in doing so. I feel like it would have gotten more attention than one single guy claiming that Saad told him that. It's an interesting story though—I've been meaning to look into it some more.

EDIT: Here's the original source: http://www.doghouseboxing.com/Ken/Hissner121109.htm

Not sure how well the people behind this knew him, but they put "Saad Muhammad" on his gravestone, fwiw:

Oh **** it's on his grave? Damn. Sure, I'll go with Saad then. I don't particularly mind, he's him no matter what name, I'd just call him what he wants to be called.

I think the end of the interview speaks for itself.

Yeah, that's my take too. For what it's worth, he seemed to go by "Saad Muhammad" in all of his public appearances later in life too. Not sure how much you know about his life story but you might find his interview on the Art Fennel show (second link) interesting:

Who do you think will win @ 168? RJJ or Sugar Ray Robinson?
Is 168 too much for SRR?

How about Bhop? Can he but an ATG fighter @154? He was 156 when he best ODLH

I knew Saad went back to being a Christian but was always under the impressive he kept Saad Muhammad. Even Franklin wasn’t his original last name, it was Maxwell Loach.
