OK, so let me explain...Take a fight from history and imagine it never happened...now imagine it is one of the myriad 'fantasy fights' posted on this forum. Apply your logic about everything you now know and be honest, how would you have picked?

If they hadn't fought and knowing what I know about both men, I could probably lodge a stout argument that Tommy Morrison would beat Ray Mercer. Tommy could boxing, he could dance, he outboard bog, immobile old George...and Mercer could be outhussled.

I'd take the best Holyfield to beat the best Bowe every single time...

I think I'd take Naz to beat Barrera...

What 'fantasy' fights would you have called wrong...

    George Foreman vs Joe Frazier.

In retrospect it's easy to see how bad stylistically Foreman is for Joe. But if they hadn't fought, I'd think Frazier would use Foreman's mummy guard against him, bob and weave beneath his arms (he managed it vs the much faster Ali after all) and hit all of those openings of his with the left hook, inevitably chopping him down.

Marco Antonio Barrera beating Manny Pacquiao
    Donald Curry beating Lloyd Honeyghan
    Vernon Forrest beating Ricardo Mayorga
    Thomas Hearns beating Iran Barkley

Had those fights never taken place and were merely just "fantasy fights" I would have quickly chosen the more skilled and technically polished boxers over the guys that ended up beating them in reality. I think most people didn't expect the so called "less skilled" fighters to actually beat them the way they did, let alone stop them.

For the longest time I thought that Golovkin was going to destroy Canelo and that Kovalev was going to destroy Andre Ward. While I thought both deserved the decision in the first fight they hardly destroyed their opponent.

I would have got Louis vs Schmeling 1, SRL vs Duran 1 and Tyson vs Douglas wrong.

I did get Lewis vs Rahman 1, Pacquiao vs ODLH, Wlad vs Fury, Usyk vs AJ 1 and Uysk vs Fury 1 wrong.

Foreman to beat Ali. Even knowing what happened in the real fight I would still take Foreman to have won the rematch if it had happened

The Ali in my head doesn’t lose to Ken Norton, let alone struggle with him every time.
I thought Ruddock was going to have too much for Lennox, more because of where they were in their careers.

Yeah I still can’t understand that. Either Ruddock was ruined by the Tyson fights especially the 2nd one or Lennox just happen to catch him with one helluva shot that no one thought he had

I actually did this once when I was first learning about the Murderer's Row, but specifically Cocoa Kid. I was wondering why he didn't fight Charley Burley; I realised it must not have lined up, and not because Kid would beat him. I remember walking through my front door like "hmm, actually, Cocoa might win that". Then I thought I'd take a look at Burley's record and there it was. A 15 round decision win over Cocoa Kid, where "Burley floored Cocoa Kid three times and defeated him decisively".

I never cease to amaze myself with how many actual fights I get wrong.

That showed how good Lewis was.
That's when people started to take notice of him I think.
