Fantasy Match-ups

I don't get what's with all these fantasy match-ups cropping out like mushrooms here and there, every minute, regardless who the protagonists are. Is it a form of rant? A venting out of emotion? A form of self validation? What? Is it like a wet dream where one gets an erection out of every reply that he/she gets from members and that ultimately leads to an orgasm when the thread starter's view is overwhelmingly confirmed/supported? I really don't get the purpose of it.

All I see that comes out of all these fantasy match-ups is hatred. It doesn't lead to constructive criticism nor intellectual debate... a-ah. It only leads to endless arguments, trash talk and polarization of fans from each opposing camp. It's divisive and only breeds contempt! I hope ESB bans fantasy match-up threads. They're simply useless. Wasting time and intellect for something that has and (more often) will never happen... it ain't fantasy... that's simply stupidity for me.

 

They are entertaining to read sometimes, I must admit. But to be exposed to a variety of them (whether they are truly forthcoming or only in our dreams), it becomes one fantasy match-up too many. I don't mind the comparison especially if it's unbiased, intellectual and that the participants are open-minded, sport and not stubborn. What's alarming is the behavior... members would say it's a stupid match-up and yet they'll reply as to who's going to win (Do you do it?). Now tell me who's more stupid between the two.

Call me naive, noob (yeah, just because I have 13 posts) or whatever, but I believe if people truly ignore such out-of-this-world fantasy match-ups then I do believe such menacing threads would decrease.

So does that mean both of you will be buying popcorn to see who would hypothetically win between the remastered black & white original king kong of 1933 and the i-maxed digitalized king kong 0f 2005? Remember, we are talking about fantasy match-ups here.

 

Ok... lets get more realistic. How about Rocky Balboa versus SRR?

 

Oh wait... which Rocky? Rocky Balboa from part 1, 2, 3 ,4... Better not be from part 4... nuthuggers of Rocky might say he is shot by then if he 'hypothetically" loses.
