With Maidana if he lands right...you never know... But Hatton at his best did have some unappreciated versatility, he does not have to go Truck-to-Truck with Maidana, He could outfinese him like he did the first five rounds of his Urango fight, before the Chest infection problem manifested itself, Also if Maidana did not Relish that one Left Hook Body Shot from Kahn... then no matter how good his Chin is... Ricky's speciality of the day may leave Maidana Choking...

I think this is a fight that would Show how good Ricky could be, not just a Slam-Banger.. But a Educated Pressure Merchant .

    Great post.

    Id favour Ricky in this.

Maidana is a bully, so far none of his opponents have really been able to get his respect but Ricky had the firepower to do this unlike Alexander, Khan, Mayweather and Broner. And if Maidana made it into a street fight, Ricky could resort to that too.

Maidana does not like it to the body and the body shots from Floyd did have an effect on him, Ricky if anything was a great body puncher.

I think Hatton would have seriously ****ed him up and beat Maidana at his own game and probably stopped him late.

Hatton by TKO to the body. Hattons body work was actually outstanding.

Yeah, that makes a difference. The new Maidana under Garcia is competitive with any Hatton including the version that fought Tszyu, but the one that fought Ortiz probably wouldn't be.

Fair enough. Hatton looked awful versus Collazo.

Some fighters just dont seem to perform well in certain divisions. You get posters say its only a few pounds but sometimes they are just not the same.
J Taylor was a MW champ, went to SMW and lost more than he won, then dropped back to MW and is a title holder again.
G Johnson was a LHW champ, but at SMW lost to many fighters.
    Just to give an example.

Against Collazo, I dont think Hatton was able to use his usual strength and was able to be as strong in the clinches

Hatton strength was His ability to maul boxers using His strength, in the welterweight division other boxers where stronger than Him or equal so your best ability was neutralized moving up.

Maidana' weakness, body punches; Hatton's strength, body punches.

Probably a very close 1 point sort of fight. I actually think Maidana matches up pretty well with Hatton and while Hatton would sweep the opening rounds, I feel Maidana just as likely does the same later on and I feel Hatton has no real chance of stopping Maidana while I cannot say the same the other way around. I would pick Maidana over Hatton at 147 form. At 140, 55/45 or 60/40 for Hatton.
