A - Joe calzaghe vs Carl Froch B- Andre ward vs Chris Eubank C- Nigel Benn vs Mikkel Kessler D- G Mclellan vs Andre Dirrel WINNER OF A FIGHTS C WINNER OF B FIGHTS D TO DECIDE FINAL How does the all time 168 pan out ???:good
Calzaghe completely outfoxes Froch, who has some moments in the middle rounds, to take a wide decision. 9-3 or similar. Ward, simply because he's willing to fight at a pace Eubank doesn't like. But it would be rough and tough, with Ward nearly getting stopped in the late rounds to take a close, but clear points win. 7-4 (with a KD scored against Ward). I love Benn as a fighter, but I think Kessler, at his best, would take this. Benn would need to duck under the jab consistently and avoid Kessler's underrated right uppercut too. He could do it early and would probably land on Mikkel. But BEnn wasn't as powerful at 168m, and the Dane has a solid chin (has he ever been down?) and can come back as Benn slows. That jab-straight combo would eventually deposit Benn on the canvas around the 10th and the follow up would see the ref halting the fight. Dirrell could possibly run this one out, and lose a wide decision. But I doubt it. Mclellan was a skilled operator with a great selection of shots and ring generalship. Dirrell would land here and there, but G-Man would be cutting the ring off and working to the body. I see a 6th round stoppage for the highlight reel here, with G-Man doing the damage with a massive left hook. WINNER OF A FIGHTS C Calzaghe-Kessler... I think Kessler would maybe do better, being prepared to change pace a little bit when Joe opts to box. But Calzaghe's too rounded and too relentless. He takes the decision again with similar margins to the first bout. WINNER OF B FIGHTS D Ward-Mclellan This is a hard one to choose. It stands to reason that Ward can outbox his dangerous foe, but if Green can catch him with sharp left hooks that steady him, then Mclellan definitely can. I'm not convinced that Ward has a great chin and he's a sucker for the uppercut. Mclellan catches Ward around the eighth and finishes him in brutal fashion. TO DECIDE FINAL Calzaghe-Mclellan Mclellan is a sharp enough hitter and enough skills to give Joe hell. But Joe can use his footwork to keep Gerald turning and defuse that power hand. There'll be some rough, nasty rounds where Joe takes some hard shots, but he always gives it back. Joe wins on points - 7-5 or 8-4. Out of interest, I'd have James Toney in instead of Dirrell, who was a career MW. I'd see Toney and Calzaghe in the final.
Dirrell would be needing to see Dr.Shaw Hi again if he ever stepped in ring vs a Prime G-Man. The kid relies on his reflexes and does dangerous things like backing into corners and pulling back with chin. That's all well and good but McClellan would have no problems cutting him down and stopping him brutally within 4 rounds. Dirrell will never be hit as hard as he would against G-Man.
Nigel Benn knocks them all out Ok, so maybe a little bit of nostalgia going on, but probably my favourite UK fighter, so I'm very biased...but honest lol
Calzaghe UD Froch Ward UD Eubank Benn TKO Kessler Mclellan TKO Dirrell Calzaghe UD Benn (I actually dunno, never thought about this one) Ward UD Mclellan Calzaghe SD Ward (Yes I'm predicting a SD)
A - Joe calzaghe vs Carl Froch Calzaghe UD. Frochs power at 168 is over rated IMO B- Andre ward vs Chris Eubank Eubank is probably one of the most intelligent boxers of all time. he pulls out the decision or late stoppage. C- Nigel Benn vs Mikkel Kessler How i never thought of this before is beyond me, I think Kessler could possibly pull it out of the bag but im going with Benn. very close. D- G Mclellan vs Andre Dirrel If Abraham can tag him then so can Mclellan. Brutal KO WINNER OF A FIGHTS C Calzaghe outworks Benn to a UD WINNER OF B FIGHTS D Eubank would have trouble but eventually stop Mclellan. Calzaghe UD Eubank.
Benn would definitely stop Kessler. Punched too hard and was too ferocious. What does Kessler show Benn thats anything he hasn't seen? He's faced more awkward fighters and he's faced bigger punchers. I could see him stopping him to the body or just catching him too much as Kessler jumps backwards in a straight line with his hands down. The fact is, Kessler isn't that great when he's under onslaught himself, he's kind of a bully that looks great when he's the one dictating things. With Benn coming at him like a ton of bricks he'd be in deep ****. Ward over Eubank is pretty easy too, Eubank looked woeful when forced to dictate the action and Ward would force that out of him. Ward would pick pocket this one in a dull victory. Calzaghe/Benn is one I struggle to envisage.
