Had a top career and made a ton of money. Fair play to him.

Always one of my favorite fighters and really enjoyed watching him fight and could really appreciate his talent amd skill. Very good career and you're getting out at the right time, which may be the toughest thing for any accomplished boxer to do.

For all the **** talking I do concerning Brits and their fighters I hope people understand its mainly to get a rise out of some and that the UK has produced just as many fighters that I root for as the US in recent years, though admittedly that rooting is behind closed doors for the most part.

Fair play to George, great fighter and career. He could have won a belt again at 168 but would have had to rebuild first and mcguigan said about the struggle at the weight recently. 175 wouldn’t have ended well so I think he’s absolutely done the right thing. He’s earned a lot of money and is still all there, good luck George!

Is he only 30? I can’t see him staying retired.

He's apparently only 3 months older than me... Yet he looks old enough to be my Dad.

There’s nothing out there though. He’s given it 4 months or so to think about things and see if the hungers there for another fight and it doesn’t look like there is.

I just want to say Thank You to my mate the Saint George Groves. I will never forget the young explosive technical boxer puncher. I predicted early on that he would be a world class fighter and champion. Like the song goes “I did it my way” and the Saint certainly did it his way. We shall miss you in the ring as the best English technical boxer since Lloyd Honeyghan. Glad you will remain in boxing in the Management and athlete representative capacity. No doubt your intellect and knowledge will illuminate any boxing punditry you do. Thanks George. A fine career indeed. Well done.

It doesn't matter if you think he was winning. He got stopped. If you'd bet on a Groves win, you'd have lost.
He did great in that fight and was definitely up at the time, but he lost. The ref robbed us of seeing what would have happened but there was only 1 person getting stronger in that fight, and it wasn't Groves.
