Which one would you guys prefer? Pure subjective.

The approach of fighting for straps ASAP or a more traditional slow burner of being fed 2-3 star boxrec guys before fighting top opposition.

    I like the traditional route

    English or northern/southern area title
    Commonwealth
British (not an easy task but defend it 3 times to receive the Lonsdale belt)
    Ebu
An eliminator for a world title (wbc is probably still rated the best)

it very rarely happens that way nowadays due to the business and amount of belts flying around

If I had a long amateur career or started late, fast track.

If I'm still young like late teenage years or early 20s, then I would rather collect experience and have 15-20 fights till the international title or a similar title.

Depends on the amateur background / pedigree.

There’s many factors at play so there’s no black and white answer. Age, amateur pedigree, division, and promotional company. Then in todays climate you have guys that are still prospects able to grab cheap titles based on the power of their promotional company. Example Jamie Mungia’s 154 run, Shakur Stevenson’s 126 to name a few.

    I agree with the above,
Other factors involved with age and promotion.

in the uk amateur scene aj and Ohara Davies were knocking out everyone. AJ got the Olympic call up, not sure why Davies didn’t.

Is the ‘fast track’ approach a thing anymore ?
It seems once a boxer turns pro & is seen as having a good skill set, he is matched up very carefully, & not rushed into fighting too regularly, which l understand.
Joe Joyce is probably the exception to this, due to him turning pro so late.
Mike Tyson was fighting every 3/4 weeks for a couple of years from memory, amazing !
It’s a shame today’s HW are so inactive.

Depends on the quality of the fighter. Some don't need the 'slow fight many cans' build up. Some do.

Ideally get gifted a gold medal in your home country then buy a belt off a bum named Charles and then beat an old man who already got beat for some more belts in a life and death fight. Then lose them to a little fat man and a cruiserweight.
