We all know Wlad is a different fighter now in comparison to 2004. I would give the edge to Sanders here but more importantly he wasnt afraid to engage to land his shots. Haye has the speed and power like Sanders but will he take enough risks to land early? Or will he proceed with caution and get beat up by the jab. I just cant imagine Haye jumping on him early like Sanders did...which is probably his only chance of winning.
Haye is faster, Corrie was a sniper of a puncher. Haye wings his punches at times but when he throws straight shots he's very quick.
What Sanders had going for him was his height as well. Only like an inch or two shorter than Wlad. I'd say Haye is faster with the cross deffo. It's just David can get reckless and start throwing winging punches at times
Speed is about even. Sanders had very quick punch release though and he was twice the puncher Haye is. People underrated Sanders' power, it was vicious. Haye is obviously more athletic and has the better reflexes and footwork. TBH looking at the Sanders fight is kind of irrelevent. Haye is not much like Sanders and Wlad is so different, it's like looking at the Haye from the Thompson fight. The only thing Haye can take from that fight is, Sanders was able to anticipate Wlad's punches. Punch with him and get off first. Haye has the tools to do that.
Sanders, that and his chin was basically all he had but he had it in abundance. The most deadly power punching south paw with lightning punch speed the sport has seen imo.
Aside from all the fat golfer jokes, Sanders had a deceptively nasty left that he liked to pop on the inside. Only time I've seen Vitali run away was after Sanders belted it on him in I think the 1st round of their fight. Vitali looked hurt from it which is saying something considering the bombs he took from Lewis. Haye is quicker from range but Sander's short left was nasty considering how non-athletic he looks. Sanders would have been an absolute beast if he had taken boxing seriously.
Sanders is the most talented heavyweight of the past 15 years after Lewis. In all seriousness Haye isn't phsyically strong enough to win this for me. He should hurt Wlad a few times, but won't be able to finish the job due to Wlad being able to easily clich Haye and push him away.
Sanders was faster. If he wasn't too busy playing golf and being a police officer, he would've probably been a top contender in the 1990s and early 2000s. A damn shame.
Sanders had some of the fasted heavyweight hands ever. Haye...maybe a hair below. I am honst here in saying that Haye had accomlished much, much more than Sanders, but Sanders had some mad offensive skills.
