    Louis clearly.

    Holmes had faster feet though.

Old Foreman. Foreman had the fastest hands in history OK.

I voted for Louis, but they are subtley different types of speed.

  8. holmes had a fast jab but louis got very fast ,effective and accurate combinations of short blows

I suspect that Joe Louis looked faster on the business end, and you probably wondered where it had come from.

    Good call...:good

Louie had faster / tighter combo's, but I think Holmes pumped a quicker jab and cross then Louie did........ Holmes feet were by far quicker....

Holmes was faster ... he had exceptional hand speed ... Louis is vastly underrated in this department by many ... he was a much better combination puncher, threw a better variety of shots and of course was a much bigger hitter ...

Holmes also owned good right hand power aside from his hammering left jab.... I think Holmes could've parked all the dude's Louis KO'd of the 1930s and 1940s.... But I am not so sure Louis would KO all the mo-fo's Holmes stopped or went the distance with.....

I still contend that Louis' greatest title challenge came at the end of his career against Joe Wally in 1947 and '48..... Earlier dude's like "Godoy & Conn" were either crude or small....

Holmes' resume compares or exceeds Louis' resume when you really examine it..... IMO!

Louis had the power to KO iron chinned fighters. Max Baer wasn't chinny at at all and got KO'ed by Louis. If Holmes couldn't KO Ken Norton, he wouldn't be able to take somebody like Baer out.
