Well knocking someone down and stopping them cold are two different things. This was certainly the case with Fullmer, and let's say Larry Holmes. They usually not only came back swinging, but usually won. Holmes always did at his best. By contrast Jones and say Tyson would be examples of the other side of the fence. Not often down, but when they were coming back to win wasn't actually plentiful.

Robinson needed 50 rounds to land that left hook, that by complete accident turned out to be that perfect. He wasn't able to do such things whenever he wished to. I didn't count, of course, but he obviously was throwing left hooks in great numbers in his fights that are on film, but never again with the same effect. Pure accident.

What about the other hundreds upon hundreds of rounds he fought? How come there's no other accidents? Is it just co-incidence it just so happens to be a great like SRR that delivered the one single accident?

If you have an extensive collection of boxing videos, or if you just spend some time browsing the youtube, you will find tens or hundreds of examples of one-left-hook-to-the-chin knockouts, many will be as spectacular as Robinson-Fullmer one.

It's the combatants that make it, and others, what they are.

It's people's ignorance of anything other than big names, that makes them claim it was the best left hook ever thrown, or them calling Robinson a huge puncher at middleweight based on this particular KO.

Check Jones' left hook vs Malinga, who, unlike not very clever Fullmer, had his hands up in front of his head, defending himself, when Jones threw left hook around the block. To me that's much more spectacular and much harder to execute left hook KO than what Robinson did to Fullmer. Fullmer KO is only about on par with what Roy did to Montell Griffin. Fullmer KO is inferior to left-jab-feint followerd by right hook to the body of Hill KO.

How would you see Fullmer vs absolute peak Malinga, Thomas Tate, or Malinga going?

Anyone who calls RJJ a risk taking cruiser hasn't seen that fight or any pre-175 Jones because he was very aggressive. Remember Malinga deserved decisions over Benn and Eubank and would take the WBC from Benn. A very underrated win and performance

People would laugh at the though of Malinga beating Fullmer BUT he beat the similar Nigel Benn
