Funny thing is, m. I've watched Pac spar for years 'n he looks like he's only thrown' arm punches ('n he agrees when he looks at the tapes) but he regularly dropped middleweights as a Jr. feather.

Bottom line: Either ya can punch or ya can't.

Watched more of his videos. His power needs improvement because hes not putting all of the torque of his waist into his punches. If he can generate enough power to knock someone down then he'll make it because he does have the speed and his technique while not elite level is actually very good for an amateur.

Pac uses his legs to punch. Punching doesn't come from the strength of your arms, the only exception to the rule is the jab. The majority of the power comes from the legs, waist and hips and strong abs and hip movement generates force.

Just watch Roy Jones Jr in his prime, this guy never was a power puncher but through technique he could generate a massive amount of power that defied his frame. The power came from his coordinated footwork and waist movement.

Excerpt from your interview (I hope you don't mind) :good :

Q: How do you manage to get such power in your punches when you’re not throwing hard?

If you have speed, you have power. Even myself, when I see my fight on tape, I think I don’t have power. It’s look like no power my punches. But, I know in the ring, I have big power. It’s a big surprise to my opponent.

Try to throw your punches straighter and move more around the heavy bag. My footwork improved this thursday at my gym and they were telling me the same thing. Anyways you really should concentrate on distance and throwing the jab more. Double the f'n jab!!!jk. You do fine just move more around the bag and throw straighter shots.:good

Cool. I wasn't trying to insult you or anything and I'm glad you didn't take it that way. Just wanted to make sure you realized the importance of throwing punches with proper technique.

I'm 29 and also a (very) late starter. I'm training right now and hopefully will do some amateur fights in the next year or two.
