These two are widely considered to have the fastest hands in HW history.

Well, who had the faster hands?

Tyson had faster hands and faster punch.Ali could maybe throw more punches per second after 5 punches but that doesn't make him faster...i'll take Tysons ability to throw up to 5 power shots in 1.2 seconds. both at their fastest ,Tyson was 200 pounds at age 15 throwing blistering speed combos..Ali at 190 was almost as fast but not as fast....in terms of true Hw weight of 215 plus...its not even close..Tyson by a mile.

Tyson has the edge slightly punch for punch...Wlad is faster than Ali punch for punch.

Seriously? Ali could shoot his jab in a blink of an eye in the 60's. His jab was faster than sugar ray robinson's jab and Ali was a heavyweight. Look at Ali's hand speed in the brian london fight. That is fastest punch combination from a heavyweight in boxing history. Ridiculous thread.

Ali, and only in the minds of simpleton Tyson freaks is there any semblance of a comparison.

Where do halfwits watching their stumpy little hero unload on junkies, alcoholics, cab drivers, and building site labourers, get off on this mythical nonsense?

Have they never seen a circus, or a pantomime, where the dwarf always " looks " like he is the quicker guy, solely because he needs to propel his little arms, and legs like windmills just to keep up?

Ali by much, Tyson was a fast banger, for a banger but once he unloaded usually slowed down by the 8th

That's because if Tyson hit anyone with that many shots at one time they would be nearly killed...his punches were faster more blisterling direct power shots..take into account his much shorter reach he had to go a greater distance to hit the target...Tyson has the faster hand speed!

Tyson thru 7 punches in 2 seconds in one fight,Ali thru 11 in 3 seconds....and they weren't hard punches they were light punches and that's much easier to do when throwing faster.

I think in the 70's Ali's jab and right hand were faster than any of Tyson's punches.

there is a lot of bias in some of these replies.

Tyson through with more power, but that is not at all the question.
Though look at a fight like Williams to see Ali unloading quick power shots too.

Ali was allegedly timed as 24\5% faster than SRR when the tapes were reviewed.
In :When they were Kings" they show & discuss Ali landing in 2/1000's of a second.

A shorter guy has to have his blows trave further, whaaaaa?
Only if he is not next to the target. Actually longer arms mean all other things being equal your shots need to travel a greater distance.

Ali almost as fast at 190? C'mon, this in not rational.
Ali was between 211 1/2 7 214 for his Peak Fightes before the exile.
Where is the evidence that he was not at his peak hand & foot speed here?

IF Ali was clearly faster at 190, then he would indisputably be significantky faster than Tyson, since you can see how quick he is against the likes of Williams.

I think it was close, but Ali could get off faster.

But some answers betray mucho bias.

Wlad as faster than either? I really do not think so, but he is fast with crushing power.
