The Claude Noel fight would be him at about his fastest. A year before he fought Rosario he was still very sharp vs Greg "The Candyman" Coverson, a solid fringe contender. Davis whalloped him.
If you want to see a match where speed is your thing, man, I recall the middleweight match between Ronnie Harris and Alan Minter. Wow! I didn't envy the judges in that fight. But Harris was that much better and the judges had to sigh with relief when Minter was marked up too bad to continue. As for an individual, there was a flyweight named Halimi Gutierrez who peaked in the late 60s-early 70s. This guy was speed incarnate. Literally, his hands were like a blur and he carried some pop as well. Scartissue
What's amazing also Laguna maintained his speed and movement throughout the whole fight. Very impressive.
Herrera also just impressed the **** out of me the way he dominated and destroyed Olivares the first time. Herrera fought like a smaller Carlos Monzon.
Mayweather is fast, no doubt. Just not blindingly fast as guys like Camacho or Leonard were. The fastest his hands looked was against Corrales when he threw the hooks and opened up a bit against still dazed Chico.
Carl Weathers actually had very fast hands according to Stallone, Duran and the other fighters used in the film. Weathers' jab was better than decent.
Chang, Duran, Harada, Nunn for raw footspeed are tough to beat. Ronnie Harris is a good pick. His speed and nerves seemed to desert him for long periods at Luna Park against Corro though. Conteh was extremely quick pre-long layoffs and hand issues, could close the gap or whip out counters and single leads as quick as most, though he fought more Napoles-esque than with loads of full speed combos ie Leonard, camacho , Taylor etc.Like most other things his quickness went downhill fast once he lost focus and dedication. Curry was blisteringly quick with single shots as well, though he also used his speed more sparingly while fighting in a methodical technical manner.
