Maybe. Hearns was a very good boxer as an amateur and I have a hard time visualizing Howard Davis "toying" with him.
Johnny Tapia and Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson are so underrated in this category it's ridiculous. They had lightning fast hands, throwing them with bad intent but they rarely get mentioned.:bart
Roy Jones hit Reggie Johnson with a two punch combination faster than any one shot I've ever seen. Not only did he drop him with it but Roy even moved out of the way to avoid a counter but Johnson dropped. Just to give you more of an idea of how fast he was. Montell Griffin sparred with Mayweather back when Floyd was at 130 and lightning fast. Griffin said Roy Jones was faster than Floyd.
calzaghe had the fastest hands of all time and he did it as a fully grown man not the 5'6 midgets with 65 inch reaches you guys are bringing up. RJJ was fast......when fighting postal workers and sams club security guards. When he ran into calzaghe he didn't look so quick all of the sudden...
Camacho and Taylor are the fastest I've ever seen. RJJ and SRL are right there behind them as far as handspeed that I've seen. Also, Tommy Hearns has sneaky under the radar handspeed. Why do you think he's not known for his speed?
Russell Jr., Mosley at lightweight, Mayweather at 130, Rigondeaux, Rau'shee ******, and Conn seem like some solid additions.
Nah he always looked quick. Still does for his age. It's just he wasn't able to KO and walk through elite opponents when he was past prime like Joe Calzaghe.
