Would you guys say that Khan has faster hands than Gamboa? I'm impressed with his speed and athleticism, but it seems premature to say he's faster than the Cuban and some of the others already mentioned.

Its a shame he's so gun-shy because he is very quick and he big and powerful, even for a LWW. If he committed more to his punches when he had made an opening with his jab then he could do some serious damage.

Maybe i'm wrong but i see this being a problem. He still seems to be attacking the same way i remember from before the Prescott fight, when he was overwhelming smaller fighters with those flurries and getting stoppages from British refs.

If he goes to the states US refs wont give him stoppages for these things. Plus the bigger and better fighters he'll have to face if he wants to keep rising wont be as affected at all.

I mean i know they're only starting to work together, and the main focus so far is him keeping his chin protected, but i'm a little underwhelmed by his work with Roach so far.

Dr.Roach had a gameplan hit and move not really giving Khan to plant his feet and unload, and Khan followed to the word, and now is the WBA world champion.

He used excellent timing and handspeed. If you watch the replay of the knockout punch you can barely see it it's so fast but if you watch it on slow-motion. My god it's a big punch.

The difference between Kahn's handspeed and Pac's is that Pac's has huge power behind his shots whereas Kahn has hand speed similar to Joe Calzaghe ie not much power behind it.

Pac has faster hand speed in my opinion from watching both fighters.

El Ciclon de guantanamo would eat Khan for breakfast in the speed department.

    Fast hands yeah, but
    1) it'd be more impressive if he actually hit something else than Kotelnik's gloves :-(
    2) straight punch flurries are very fast to deliver compared to combinations including straight punches, hooks and uppercuts

He may not have one punch ko power, but this shoe shining tag is absurd, those were the tactics against Kotelnik, winning tactics might i add. His shoe shine punches had MAB flying from one side of the ring to the other.

I know Graham Earl was shot, but you can see that Khan can combine power and speed when he wants to:

...I think Khan (and any half knowledgeable boxing fan) knows that if he put everything into all his shots then he would tire himself out, and given Khan's current set of attributes it would be extremely risky to fight with a style knowning that he would be exhausted by the final rounds.

Amir Khan has definitely got one of the quickest hands in boxing. People who are saying "his punches have no power behind them", are just simply ******ed because speed and power are completely different attributes.

Why would Amir want to stand and trade with Kotelnik when his Plan A (Hit and Move) was working? It would be idiotic for him to trade, especially when he's fighting for his first world title and also being knocked out only a couple of fights ago, would it really be worth the risk?

In regards to Manny Pacquaio, Freddy has said Amir has the faster hands but in terms of speed/power ratio, Manny is far the superior in this moment of time. But in time, Amir will plant his feet more and show his power. We saw glimpes of him slipping and counter punching in the Kotelnik fight which we have never seen before, so we know he's improving. He also showed that he can take a decent dig. But all the haters always come up with another excuse. Amir alkways seems to be in a lose-lose situation.
