What say you? 1. Ali - 1967 version 2. Tyson - 1988 version 3. ?? I wonder where Tunney, Walcott and Usyk would rank.
Prime Muhammad Ali, for pure moving, is so far above any other Heavyweight I have ever seen, that my thoughts end with him on that score. Nobody was even close to him, in my view.
I don’t think fast feet is a compliment, I believe IMO it’s often just a compensation? for bad footwork. All the best guys took small thoughtful steps. Louis, Napoles, Moore, Burley,Toney and Charles weren’t hoppy rabbits from what I can see. Jack Dempsey was overall very fast but pretty thoughtful, there is a right time to take large steps and bound about but the issue is in guys like Muhammad Ali - consistently his footwork just took him out of range to do anything, he was safe and to me it looked impressive but at what cost?
Pound for Pound, Tyson.... Fury deserves a mention. At his prime he had bizarrely light feet for a guy his size.
If we can count people who were light Heavies but fought at heavy, Billy Conn, Tommy Loughran and Ezzard Charles.
Foreman had fast feet Dempsey, Tunney, Charles, Patterson, Ali, Dokes, Tyson, Holyfield were all fairly fast
