Apart from Jeff Lacy, when did Calzaghe 'Lacy' anyone half decent?

If prime Joe had the political power to get these half decent names to fly to his backyard (like Ward), and if his promoters handpicked the officials (again, like Ward) then Calzaghe would almost certainly have battered them.

However, the Americunts preferred to stay home, shoot off their mouths on TV whilst safely on the other side of the Atlantic, and make "fights" a la Vince McMahon, so it wasn't to be.

If Calzaghe walked into a gym today, he'd still get a decision against Ward after a few months training. Prime for prime? Ward would start to regret taking up the sport before the end of the 6th round, and probably wouldn't last out the fight without getting TKOd or disqualified.

it doesnt take "political power" to get top, career defining fights against top fighters
and the whole reason why a skilled fighter like calzaghe wont get any props from the post you just made is that calzaghe never chased those fights

so you cant credit a skilled fighter who enjoyed feeding off b-graders with a hands-down win over a fighter who has the an a-grade resume over the last 2 years

I can credit who I like with what I like. Calzaghe tried to make fights with big names. The big names wanted no part of him. Obviously he didn't have the political/financial backing in the sport to get those fights to happen back then. However, the real reason behind my prior post is simple. Calzaghe is obviously better, just by watching fights. I have no doubt whatsoever that Calzaghe would beat Ward. I don't see how anyone could seriously come to any other conclusion.

Calzaghe was an underdog in the USA for many of his big fights. The Americans always thought they had someone good enough to beat him, but none ever came close.

No one knows who would win and talk is cheap. Talk doesn't count as a loss on Calzaghe's record

how can you say calzaghe was "obviously better" than ward but also say "calzaghe tried to make fights with big names.the big names wanted no part of him"

youre saying calzaghe looked better than ward fighting lesser fighters and therefore hes better than ward

if you read posts by others, including me, and youre objective - then youll understand that the only backing calzaghe needed to make those big fights happen was the US networks

but that aint gonna happen if you dont crack the international market

    Means nothing.

Calzaghe is from the UK and will not get any love from an American.

    What did you expect?
