Eddie fought a much better fight in a sweet science sort of way. Smart, technical, precise. Peter is a plodding blemish on a terrible HW division. Arreola is on his way, Haye couldn't beat a 40 year old Roy Jones or a Dead Chris Byrd, Eddie can't run with Povetkin, and Povetkin dodges the brothers. If Evander can still play, I"m ready for an Iron Mike comeback. Or Joe Louis. Rocky could keep is undefeated record, who else can ya all think of to smoke the current HW (contenders(ha ha)
Wlad ruined him,,,,Peter had beter chin, reflexes before he fought wlad,,,but when you take that kind of abuse for 12 rounds there will be a price to pay,,vitali no question added to it,,,but wlad just nailed him with one power shot after another, an wlads jab can be just as bad as a power punch,
I agree. Peter has lost his killer instinct edge, and pride in the ring. He is too heavy now, and does not seem to care as much as he did prior to facing the Klitschkos. Chambers needs to lose about 10 pounds, but there is no denying his skills. He is better than the James Toney that Sam Peter beat. I had Chambers up by 3 rounds at the end of the fight. How one judge had it a draw, and the other had it 9-1 for Chambers is yet another example of incompetent judging. So what does this fight tell us? 1 ) Chambers is now the best USA heavyweight, and legitimate top ten fighter. It is plausible to place Chambers as high as #5. I think he could out box Valuev. 2 ) Peter is eating himself out of the top ten. 3 ) Povetkin stock goes up for beating Chambers.
**** post. Povetkin is not dodging anyone, he got injured and he will probably fight Wlad in September should he get by Haye(which I doubt) and considering he will only have had 17 fights by the time he faces him that is commendable. I aren't even go into the Haye vs Jones part of the post.
Peter is done. He´s too lazy to train and too unskilled. I figured Chambers would take this one. Chambers is actually pretty good. I could have seen him getting the decision in the Povetkin fight.
there is no doubt that eddie chambers can lose a good deal extra weight and its a simple fact that he will be lighter on his feet, with quick foot speed i dont think that is a bad thing to have
Yes, Peter did appear to be less fat at 265 than Chambers was at 223. Chambers's shoulders are narrower than his midsection. The guy is not a heavyweight, no. At least, he shouldn't be. But if he does want to forge on at heavy, for the love of GOD, stop eating the big macs, build some upperbody muscle in order to, possibly build more power, and stop being a feather fisted tub of lard. How anyone can be a pro athlete and be that ****ing fat is beyond me. No, appearance is not all of it, but a athletic, strong, at least somewhat lean appearance, makes a fighter more marketable. Lose that big ol gut and I venture to say his punchoutput and stamina would improve. And more shoulder and chest muscle would have to help his power. Not make him a destroyer, but improve his power at least somewhat. He is fast as hell, though, but he don't do nearly as much as he could/should with his speed. But he did win, so........credit to him for that......
I think Peter has lost his confidence, and is living it up on his winnings. Those things combined make him undisciplined to eat right and train hard. He'll forge on, though. He's only 28 and what else is he gonna do to make good money like boxing brings him? I think he'll stay on ESPN for a while, til (if) he starts to regain some of his clout. But his drawing power is next to nothing, now. We know he's not the Tyson esque powerhouse fighter he used to be hyped as, and he is not a top ten fighter, as far as skill goes, either. His career has really fell with this lose, in my opinion.
I dont get this. Either you guys havent watched Peter since he turned pro or you've got caught up in the hype. Peter is NOT i repeat NOT a murderous puncher. He's vaunted power couldnt even put a dent in a fat old James Toney. Peter has a number of problems that he has had since he turned pro. Firstly this so called talent is nothing more than fishing. Peter has the finesse of a caveman. He's punching technique is horrid. As much as i cant stand Manny he would do well with a trainer like Manny providing he's willing to listen, (which he doesnt do) to make he's style more effective. Peter possess's no jab to speak of and simply wades after he's opponent throwing wide looping bombs. I said years ago any sound box puncher would stand him on he's head and i was right. Mentally Peter is VERY weak. Its all well and good KO'ing the Jeremy Williams of this world but when you step up in class this game is about BOXING! Not a wing and a prayer. Most fighters can see he's punches coming a mile off. Look what McCline did to him in the early rounds!! The guy was hurt and dropped 3 times. I havent got a clue what on earth he's trainers work on with him in the build up to a fight but its not boxing. For the guy to come in at 265 simply means he's lost interest and is busy living the high life. Peter will NEVER be the savior of this division, he will NEVER be a lengthy champ, and i dont have high hopes of him winning another title unless the calibre of opposition is an old journeyman like Maskeav again. As far as im concerned Peter is nothing more than another addition to the mess at heavyweight.
