This isnt easy. When you talk about fat fighters, you assume that it must be heavyweights since there's no weight restrictions unlike the other divisions. Now there's been plenty of fat out of shape hwts especially during the 1980s but one with great stamina and work rate... ?

I agree with the posters; usually you're talking about heavies. IMO not having good tone and musculature does not necessarily make you out of shape. Even Jimmy Young in his short prime had 't I t s' It was his body structure, he was always ready to go 15 in that short window of prime of his. Roy Williams? Do I have the wrong fighter here? A little gut and t I t s but you could see he was trained and ready to go. I think you have to take this thread one fighter at a time.

Bowe. Even in the second Holyfield fight when he was 11lb heavier than fight one he set a fast pace right to the end.

yea bowe was always kind of soft, he didn't have that muscle definition like wlad, lewis, joshua and some others... but he had the best boxing conditioning - stamina and workrate.

tyson fury also definitely doesn't have a body of a pro fighter, but he didn't break a sweat while dominating wlad

In that case I will say Larry Holmes. He always had a kind of pear shape figure especially towards the end of his career and he had more a one pack rather than a six pack but he showed that he could go the distance, whether it was 12 or 15 round s without that much difficulty.

He was pretty out of shape or at least he looked out of shape for seemingly most of his fights and he did have very fast handspeed but great stamina and work rate? I wouldn't have said so.

    Same with Greg Page.

Never seen a fat fighter with a high work rate. Legendary guys like Holmes and Toney could go all day when carrying excess baggage through an inbuilt ability to relax in the ring. I don't think that is something that can be taught.

Juan Diaz always had a pear shaped body but a high workrate.

Not necessarily "fat" by normal standards, but by pro boxing standards, yeah.
