But he's literally beat nobody of note, his best win is probably either Tony Dodson or Tony Quigley, the rest of his career victories are over Eastern European journeymen.

Edit, just seen gmurphy reply saying the exact same thing, sorry pal.

I do agree mate. He's been Euro level at best. I was saying 'on paper' 38 out of 44 looks pretty decent, so he's pushed himself to the front of the queue's for his mandatories a few times throughout his career.

The Smiths are all hype jobs TBF. Not one of them has beaten a world class fighter in all 4 of their careers.

Calum might change that but it wouldn't surprise me to see him fall short as that's what they seem to do when in with a genuinely class opponent.

WBA have blocked it I think unless the guy they've ordered for it (Epok or someone) takes step aside money.

    **** Paul Smith.

He should stick to being a cheerleader for his more talented brothers.

A lazy boxer and a lazy choice of opponent: Paul "Second Prize" Smith.

In fairness to Smith, he's hardly going to turn down these opportunities is he?

In the same situation nobody here would either.

i think this may end up being a double header with Groves Vs Chudinov or Brahmer Vs Clev

So it isn't going to happen.
That Epok guy, whoever he is, is not going to pass on that plastic belt probably. So Paul "worldclass" Smith would have to look for another opportunity to get his face punched in.

Absolutely not, but I often get the impression he is turning down lesser fights though. Since 2013 it's only been journeymen and losses to top level fighters...he must get offers from British level too these days

I'm still loving the title of is thread "Fat Paul Smith" :risas3:

I think "Fat" Paul Smith Vs "Chubby" Chavez Jr would be a classic.

Real Gone Kid might be the worst moniker in the whole of boxing which is fitting as Paul Smith might be the worst perennial contender south of heavyweight where the likes of Oquendo and Briggs still inexplicably get title shots.

I agree, I'm not completely stupid (just a little bit) but I'm just not understanding how Paul Smith is even looking like getting yet another shot.

Smith had 3 defeats on the bounce, an old past his best AA beat him twice and then he got humiliated by Ward, don't get me wrong, there is no disgrace in losing to Ward but he still got absolutely slaughtered.

On the comeback Smith has beaten Kubin 18-18-2, Grafka 17-20-3 and Regi 28-13 and that somehow it gets him another title shot?

This is what is wrong with boxing, a title shot for Smith it's not justifiable on any level in my opinion.

Great opportunity for Smigga! He put up a good show against AA 1. This is just the WBA "Regular" belt so he doesn't need to beat a top 5 SMW to justify his shot. Take the opportunity!
I hope he wins and fights Murray
